Uhhh - I have a lot to do in 'real life' so it will last some days until I can listen to all new stories... But I will :-)

Hi Rapunzelina,

I just uploaded my reading of Saki's "The Background." Here's the link:
https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ghohor034_background_saki_smf_128kb.mp3
TRT: 8:46s

I hope this counts as a horror story (seems like it to me). I found it through the link you suggested, on classichorrorstories.com:
http://www.classichorrorstories.com/texts/bkground.txt

My user name is leknarf

Thanks!

...and another:
https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ghohor034_mezzotint_james_ljb_128kb.mp3

Text: https://web.archive.org/web/20130508184734/http://www.classichorrorstories.com/texts/mezzotint.txt
Author: M. R. James
Title: "The Mezzotint"
Duration: 33:12

Note 1: I uploaded it twice because of a glitch the first time. The second upload is correct.

Note 2: At 4:16 and 6:58, I say "two guineas." The text shows something like "?2 2s" -- the symbols for two pounds, two shillings. In old English money, one pound + one shilling = one guinea. I have listened to a couple other recordings of this story, and the narrator says "two guineas" each time. So I said that also.

I hope it's OK...LJB

leknarf, welcome to the Ghost and Horror Collection! Thank you for offering your recording of "The Background." If it gave you the chills, then you're offering it to the right place :D
