Cynthia's Revels, or The Fountain of Self-Love by Ben Jonson (1572 - 1637).

"Cynthia's Revels," the second "comical satire," was acted in 1600, and, as a play, is even more lengthy, elaborate, and impossible than "Every Man Out of His Humour." Here personal satire seems to have absorbed everything, and while much of the caricature is admirable, especially in the detail of witty and trenchantly satirical dialogue, the central idea of a fountain of self-love is not very well carried out, and the persons revert at times to abstractions, the action to allegory. [Let's see if you agree!]

This is certainly more confusing that In or Out of His Humour. Lots of classical figures in it - just like Moliere started using.
    Gender neutral, of course.

And as Echo, Kitty will be watching you carefully as DPL on this one, so better watch out!

There are a number of roles that are only in one act (typically 1 or 5). If you take one of those roles, you make take another role that appears only in other acts. (I don't normally do this, but there are quite a large number of roles here.)

There are many lines for "All" throughout. Please make sure you record them along with your lines so I can pick between the inputs when assembling the play. Thanks!
    1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/3771
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Argurion and Echo (Echo Echo) for me please. And of course DPL, let's not break that streak.

Looking forward to the revels...I haven't heard of this Jonson play yet, so it will be interesting to hear the outcome.

Can I start by reading the Prologue speech. I could also read the Epilogue although you don't have it marked as a separate section.

Any other claims will have to wait until I have time to try and make sense of the play.

here's already the echo...echo...echo...

for the first two words and the last 4 I tinkered a bit with the Echo function on Audacity, and gave you two versions, maybe you prefer to have this echo-effect in there. I personally liked it. But I didn't do it in the long speech in the middle, that would have been too confusing. I only did it with my own voice in the parts that were repeated in the text as well. Also, Hermes seems to give her the gift of "normal" speech for her monologue and then when she is done, he bids her go back to her echoing ways, so I figured, only then she should have that effect again.

Well, I let you decide on the version :)

enough for one evening, Argurion has to wait for another day
