Just got the OK to start reading. Thought I'd start small?

You sure have. You just need to select a short story. There is a list in the first post called Finding Texts that has a lot of places you can search. Also, Project Gutenberg is making it easy right now because they are scanning in a lot of If magazines lately. They have been appearing on PG's main page as Recent books and you can go down lower the the spot that says Find eBooks and click on recently added to see more If magazines. Of course you don't have to use them.

See you soonYes, the source text just needs to be PD. It is doesn't matter if a story was read in a different collection. If two of the same come into this one, then one will be held for the next collection.

It is great to have your first recording in the Science Fiction collection. It is such a grave story. Nice work. I proof listened and there are only a few little things that need to be updated. The opening silence needs to be reduced to 1 second. The ending silence needs to be reduced to 5 seconds. The recording needs to be amplified towards the target 89 db. It is 85.6 right now. You may need to apply the compressor first to get it to amplify that much without clipping. Please make these adjustments and reupload it when you have a chance.

Hi John,
The compressor is in the effects. You can select all and then apply it. The default settings should be fine. It will bring down any peaks so that you can amplify it more.
