It is in mono now, so that is good!

The bit rate is still incorrect, but now it is 36kbps.

Are you using Audacity? I can try to walk you through fixing it if you are. Don't worry, once you get it fixed, it should "stick" for all future recordings! :-)

I am using audacity however, the software does not allow me to export the file as an mp3. I adjusted the settings in audacity but I had to convert the file separately so maybe it didn’t convert it with the correct Kbps. I will try to work with exporting the file from audacity again. :)

Ah, okay! You need to download a separate little file/program in order to be able to export from Audacity as mp3. It is called the "lame encoder".

Have a look at point #2 on this page https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Audacity_1-2-3 - which when you click on the lame encoder link, will take you here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame

Maria,

My recording is collapsed and I cannot un-collapse it. I must have hit something accidentally. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi Paula,

Can you be more specific? Is the recording still there, just more "compressed" so to say? If that is the case you probably hit one of the buttons up towards the right that looks like a magnifying glass. You will need to hit one of the others to "re-expand it.

If you haven't closed your recording since it collapsed, try going up to edit --> undo. That might take care of the problem.

I collapsed the working file so I could record on another track. When I hit the button to expand it, nothing happens. It stays collapsed. I don't have access (the are hidden) to the mute and solo buttons. I don't know how else to describe it.

When I couldn't expand it, I saved the file and exited Audacity. When I reopened Audacity, the file was still collapsed.

Try hitting the button that looks like a magnifying glass with a + in the middle of it.

If that doesn't help, I would suggest asking for help in this Audacity problem thread here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=40238 (as I am a bit stumped :-))
