The Poems of Madison Cawein, Volume 3 by Madison Cawein (1865 - 1914).

This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project https://librivox.org/the-poems-of-madison-cawein-vol-3-by-madison-cawein/
This is Volume 3: Nature Poems of the collected works of Madison Julius Cawein, an American poet from Kentucky. It arranged in four sections: In The Shadow of the Beeches, Tansy and Sweet-Alyssum, Weeds by the Wall, and A Voice on the Wind. It is dedicated to "Doctor Henry A. Cottel whose kind words of friendship and approval have encouraged me most when I most needed encouragement."
( Larry Wilson)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/55011
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

      Bit Rate: 128 kbps
      Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz
    7. DURING recording:
      • No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
      • At the beginning of the recording, read the abbreviated "LibriVox disclaimer":
"[Poem title], by Madison Cawein, read for LibriVox.org" by [your name] or some variation on that, adding date, location, your personal URL, etc., if you wish.
      • Then read the poem. NOTE: Do not read the Roman numerals. Exceptions may be the quatrains and others that also have a title with the Roman numeral if this sounds natural.
      • At the end, say: "End of poem. This recording is in the public domain." and leave five seconds of silence.
At the end of the book, also say, "End of The Poems of Madison Cawein, Volume 3 by Madison Cawein."

There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.

Please remember to check this thread frequently for updates!
  • AFTER recording
    Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The latest version of Audacity is recommended for noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.

Ah you started the new Cawein, Larry :9: Here's your MW and Jordan already has DPL access. 241 sections  Please be careful to put them all in the correct order  Also, I hope you counted them correctly, because as far as I know there is a maximum limit of 255 sections, so let's try to keep it below that.

I will probably claim some poems too once the MW is filled in. I already read many of this selection because we had Weeds by the Wall and A Voice on the Wind already as stand-alone projects and I read quite a few in there. I will make sure I will not read the same ones this time.

Thanks, Sonia!

I will double check everything so we don't have a repeat of Vol. 5. I think Vol 4 has gone well and we're waiting on just one reader who has five poems claimed.

It will take me some time, but I'll work on it today.

Hi Larry -

May I have these -

7 Rain in the Woods
14 Forest and Field
20 Autumn
33 The Storm
42 A Gray Day
60 Dusk in the Woods
71 Wood-words
124 The Screech Owl
126 The Wild Iris
133 Feud

I saw this last night, but had to wait until the MW was filled in - at least until the poems I wanted to read were there.

Okay, we are good to go!

I've gone through the MW a second time and everything lines up.

The first claims are in the MW.
Thanks!

Hi Larry,
If is not too difficult.
Can you assign me any 5 poems, at your choice, besides the 19?
I’ll take it from there.
Much obliged sir,
Cornel 😎

Well, I'd rather not be the one to choose for you. There is quite a variety here, so please look them over and make your choices, and I'll be glad to put you in for them.

Ok Larry,
I appreciate your "defense of others" doctrine. Why to throw me under the bus? Hahahaha!
I might succumb to an acute case of Cawein-itis. Not to joke with. :)
Here I am again, with clear wishes "Santa":
222, 223, 218,201 and 138

I hope I'm not overdoing myself into this poem-blood-bathing.

Thanks a lot.
