Nerves and common sense by Annie Payson Call (1853 - 1940).

" "Author of "Power Through Repose," "As a Matter of Course," "The Freedom of Life," etc.

This book has 30 chapters. MANY of these articles first appeared in "The Ladies' Home Journal," and I am glad to take this opportunity of thanking Mr. Edward Bok - the editor - for his very helpful and suggestive titles.

ANNIE PAYSON CALL. " ( Scientila Duddempudi)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/4339
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    Magic Window:

    BC Admin
    ============================================
  • The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
    START of recording (Intro):
    • "Chapter [number] of Nerves and common sense. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"

"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Say:
"Nerves and common sense by Annie Payson Call. [Chapter]"

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of Nerves and common sense by Annie Payson Call. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Only if applicable, say:
      "[Chapter title]"
    END of recording:
    • At the end of the section, say:
      "End of [Chapter]"
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • At the end of the book, say (in addition):
"End of Nerves and common sense by Annie Payson Call. "

There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
  • Example filename nervesandcommonsense_##_call_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. nervesandcommonsense_01_call_128kb.mp3)

    Transfer of files (completed recordings)
Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
    • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader: https://librivox.org/login/uploader Image
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
    • You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: Kitty
    • When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.
    • If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.

    Any questions?
    Please post below

To post a new project, please use the Project Template Code Generator at the link below, and then copy and paste the resulting code into this thread. We need all the information in the template in order to set up a project in the database.

You have to wait for an available MC (an administrator) to take on this project and set up the magic window. Please be patient. Some projects wait a bit here in the Launch pad.

Hello Scientila

this sounds like an interesting project, so I can be your MC. I'll set up the MW in a few minutes, so you can start filling it out. It's already your second solo, so you know the drill :)

All right, MW is up and running. Please let me know if there are any problems.

We'll stay in the Launch Pad over the weekend to attract a DPL maybe.

I see you have filled out the MW, so I will move us to Going Solo now.

You could maybe make an announcement in Listeners wanted by filling out this DPL template: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/ProofListening_Template

PLers often look there to find a project that needs help. :)

cool, thank you for letting me know. Good luck with editing :)

Oh and I see you have not advertised for DPL yet, maybe it would be a good idea to do that now as well. As a reminder, here is the template: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/ProofListening_Template and you simply post it in a new thread in Listeners Wanted: viewforum.php?f=21

Thanks

This sounds really interesting!

I'd be interested in being a DPL, if you're still looking for one :)

I was a young maid, a grey-haired woman
& a splendid warrior at one time
I flew with birds, swam on a wave
dove under the waves, dead among the fish.
I stepped on the ground, I had a living spirit.

Hello Krystyna :) I saw in your welcome post that you are from Prague. Beautiful city that I already visited once. :9:

Thank you for volunteering to DPL here. I will sign you up, so you should be able to enter the MW. I see you are already DPL for other projects, so you probably know what to do there and how to PL. Just one question to make sure: do you also use the Checked to check the technical details for each section ? If you can't use it, please tell me and I will handle that part of the checking. :) Just let me know.

Sonia
