Hello! I'm a newbie, but I'd love to join in this if that's ok? Could I read chapter 6?

For the reader database, could you list me as Louise Meggs? I haven't got a reader website yet, but all in good time! ;) I've already added my 1-min test to the listeners needed thread so am waiting for the responses to that :)

Have a lovely day!

Thank you svonb002! There were several odd expressions so it was harder than I thought it would be at first glance...!

Edit: Never mind, looks as someone has already been assigned to that. Could have sworn it was open when I posted this originally. Oh Well.
I'll take 3!
This will be my first non-test recording as well.

As for the reader database.

Hi Carolin! Thanks for the reminder. I have still been struggling to learn to use my new equipment to get the best quality sound in less than optimal circumstances. Overall, this recording has some of the best sound quality I have managed to capture yet, but to my dismay, during editing I discovered a few spots where I had read the words completely wrong, or left them out altogether. I was nearly done re-recording those parts when my new computer updated, and rendered my already ancient mbox unusable. So, there are a few spots where the sound quality changes slightly, and one spot where it's completely different, from an earlier take in a different part of the house, that I hadn't been planning to use. Apart from that, I think it's pretty good. I've compressed the track and run it through the checker, and it passed, so I am crossing my fingers that it is good enough for Librivox! :D

Hello Zarina,

This was a very engaging narration with wonderful characterizations and accent work.

The recording overall had great sound quality and as for your concern over the changes in this quality, the slight changes were not jarring and there was no instance where it interfered with the overall understanding of the passage. The one small spot you mentioned around 34 seconds in with the large change in quality was slightly jarring given the surrounding contrast but it was brief and the words are discernible. Following the standard level of proof-listening given to this project, I'll allow it to remain.

There's one small change that has to be made before I can mark this as PL OK.

There needs to be 5 seconds of silence at the end of the recording with an acceptable .5 second leeway but currently there are nearly 7 seconds of silence.

Thanks!
