COMPLETE: The Dialogues of the Gods by Lucian-leni

Lucian's Dialogues Volume 1: The Dialogues of the Gods by Lucian of Samosata (c. 125 - c. 180). Translated by Howard Williams (1837 - 1931)

The Dialogues of the Gods are 26 miniature dialogues mocking the Homeric conception of the Greek gods written in Attic Greek by Syrian author Lucian of Samosata. Almost 1900 years old, these dialogues still retain a lot of their original humor and wit.

Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen.Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
Please select 1 role per dialogue only. Readers are welcome to claim multiple appearances of the same role in different dialogues, but this is not necessary (for example, Zeus in Dialogue 1 and Zeus in Dialogue 2 can be read by different people). Readers are also welcome to claim different roles across different dialogues.
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.

I've been excited about starting this project for a while. It contains the first part of the linked book, as the whole collection would be a bit much for one project.

If anyone is interested in editing or PLing this project, welcome aboard! I'd be happy to take either of those roles myself, but obviously I can't do both and PL my own editing job.

EDIT: Anyone checking in now, I'd like to have someone for either parts PL, or completed sections PL, and then I'll take the other spot myself. But if you want both, that's fine too of course.. we can all share the fun!

Absolutely, you're very welcome to! A lot of these dialogues aren't all that long, and most have only 2 speaking roles without any stage directions, which makes them ideal to get editing practice in my opinion

Great, thanks! And I agree, perfect practice, especially with a topic that I absolutely looove. Mini story time, I went to a private and artsy elementary school, and every year we would have to put on a different play about either the Greek and Roman gods. I had so much fun with it, and this is a throwback to these days!

Sounds good!! It's something in between a DR and a play, I guess? I wasn't quite sure what to call it myself, which is why I just went with "Dialogues"

Well, since traditionally they are not understood as plays, I went with DR
