Joop ter Heul zit in de 3e klas van de H.B.S., en maakt graag plezier met haar vriendinnen van de Jopopinoloukicoclub. Ze heeft minder zin in het blokken voor de lessen, en het is maar de vraag of ze wel over gaat aan het eind van het schooljaar. Joop heeft een oudere broer Kees en zus Julie, een wat afwezige moeder en een strenge vader. Julie wordt verliefd op Joop’s natuurkundeleraar, en daar moet Joop niets van hebben. Joop beschrijft haar belevenissen in brieven aan haar vriendin Net, en in dagboekaantekeningen. Klassiek meisjesboek uit 1919. (Samenvatting door Anna Simon)

It feels slightly weird, I have to admit, after all these years, but I'll adjust

It doesn't show the year, but it says "tweede druk" - which means second edition. First edition was 1919, second edition is reported to be 1920 - but at least I know for sure that the 5th edition was in 1922 (see for example here: https://www.dbnl.org/titels/titel.php?id=marx002hbst01) - so the second edition was <1923.
Ik denk dat ik de 'moeilijke' vader ben, maar dan is mijn vrouw de nog veel moeilijker vader (geweest).
Trouwens als je voldoendes haalt voor Nederlands en wiskunde kan er volgens mij niet zo heel veel mis zijn.

Toch wel een erg vrije omgang tussen leerlingen en leraren. Vrijer dan we misschien tegenwoordig gepast vinden.
Maar tja the roaring twenties waren natuurlijk een vrolijke tijd.
