Sir Walter Besant (1836 – 1901) was a prolific novelist and historian. He wrote Fifty Years Ago to present a picture of a picture of life, manners, and society in Great Britain as it was when Queen Victoria ascended to the throne. In 1837, the seeds of new technology and new ideas were present and monumental changes from the ways of the 1700's were about to be felt throughout everyday life in the British Isles, starting in London and progressing outward to the country towns over several decades. Only if applicable, say: "[Chapter title]"
END of recording:

There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
Example filename fiftyyearsago_##_besant_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. fiftyyearsago_01_besant_128kb.mp3)
Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.

Walter Besant always wrote in English, I think.
Perhaps your translator is the editor?

Pam, I thought I left the Translator box blank. I am not aware of any editor other than Besant, himself. And, yes, it is in English, which is the language I checked.
Sorry, but I am not as experienced at this (just one solo so far) as I would like to become.

edit: I removed the translator and made a few minor editorial changes. I also reduced the number of sections to 20 as there is a preface and 19 chapters and we can always add more sections if we need them. Without the numerous illustrations the chapters do not seem that long. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Do you have someone in mind as the DPL or should we advertise for one?

Thanks for the corrections! As far as DPL is concerned, I am open to anyone, but I did just work with aniroo on Memories of Old Montana. I don't know if she would be interested in this one, but I enjoyed working with her.
I will insert the section titles in a short while.
I just added a ~ before the book title in the subject line of the first post. That makes everyone aware that we are looking for a dpl. You could also contact aniroo by PM to see if she is interested.

I'm going to try to post one or two sections here each week (depends on the length), but I currently have quite a bit going on in my part time work and a narration I am doing for someone that will take a couple of months for me to complete.
