Among the Great Masters of the Drama by Walter Rowlands (1855 - 0).
This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project https://librivox.org/among-the-great-masters-of-the-drama-by-walter-rowlands/
In "Among the great masters of the drama; scenes in the lives of famous actors; thirty-two reproductions of famous pictures with text", Walter Rowlands introduces us to the most famous playwrights and actors that might be seen on the London stages in the 19th century. Many of the playwrights mentioned are very famous until today, like Shakespeare and Molière, some are today less well-known. Especially interesting are the short biographies of the stars of the stage, which may in some cases remind you of contemporary actors. ( Carolin)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/amonggreatmaster00rowlrich
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Carolin,

Do you want the full LV intro disclaimer for all chapters as the MW states, or do you want the abbreviated disclaimer for subsequent chapters?

Hiya, per librivoxs policy, short disclaimers in later chapters are only used in solos. So all sections in this group project need the full disclaimer :) thank you!

Hi! I’m brand new to the forum and want to start by proof listening a section. I’m not sure what happens now - will a section be assigned to me when one is recorded or must check back later? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to librivox!

Thank you for volunteering! Aniroo has volunteered as dpl just before you posted so this project now has a dpl, a dedicated proof listener who listens to sections as they are submitted. Other projects still need help though!

If you want to listen to a whole project, you volunteer as dedicated proof listener. But that also means that you have to be ready to listen to all readers participating in the project, including new readers with technical problems that still need sorting out, and you have to stick with the project for a long time (until it is completed). Finally, sections may come in at random times and in random order.
But the up side is that it is really great fun :D

If you prefer to get started by just listening to a section here and there without committing just yet, you are welcome to pick a project that has not yet found a dpl, and just listen to a section or two and post your feedback. You can pick the section yourself and dont need to wait for permission. Do read the last few posts in the thread to see if someone else may have already listened to a section or a dpl has already volunteered.

Any proof listener is welcome, this is one of the most important jobs at librivox!

To prepare, check out or faq viewtopic.php?f=21&t=17680

Thank you!

Carolin,

Thanks for the reply!

Perhaps I’ll sign up to record instead. I still have to submit my 1 minute test...
