I'm sorry - Holgar was claimed just ahead of you at the bottom of the previous page, Any other characters catch your fancy?

Thanks, Todd

Looks like everyone was waiting for me to go first, so here is my rendition of The Comedian from "A Dollar":

https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/adollar_comedian_pinski.mp3
recording time 09:35

Please pardon my "singing"! At least this way no one will have to worry about keeping up with the tune...since there isn't one!

Let me know if there is anything that I need to fix.

Jim G.
Thanks, Jim! Of course we were waiting for you -- you are, after all, the star of the show! Can't wait to listen to it! :D

WiltedScribe wrote: February 21st, 2019, 11:13 am Oh man, I feel guilty claiming in everything, but these are such good finds that resistance is futile! :P

I can do Mr. Theophilus Bunbury and the Tragedian in the latest two plays.

Wow! What a wonderfully sweet Ingenue! Nice job, Jenn!

I’d like to add one section when you all play “musical Hamlet.” It would be inserted around 0:17 into your file.
The stage directions say “The COMEDIAN sings the refrain alone at first and the others repeat it together with him.”

0:17
ALL: Tra-la-la, tra-la-la,
Over us, under us.
Tra-la-la, tra-la-la,
Under us, over us.
Now we are jolly, jolly are we.

The second time, the stage directions read: “REFRAIN [Same as before.]”
So one more time:

ALL: Tra-la-la, tra-la-la,
Over us, under us.
Tra-la-la, tra-la-la,
Under us, over us.
Now we are jolly, jolly are we.

At around 3:45 and again at 4:08 Jim, as the Comedian, sings his splendid and entertaining version of the musical Hamlet. You can all follow his pace.

One more suggestion, which I've been playing around with, is crying. All three women cry at some point, but mostly the Ingenue. This is entirely optional (as it’s conveyed in the stage directions), but it could be hilarious if the Ingenue does some sobbing. One time Todd had a character talking over my crying and it sounded impressive. It’s my first editing attempt and it may be too ambitious, but I’d be willing to give it a try. (I was thinking of Devorah’s role in The Playgoers, and how hilarious her constant sobbing sounded).

So if you feel like having some fun with it, Jenn, I’ve noted where the crying would be inserted in your current audio file:

0:09
[The INGENUE starts sobbing.]

0:12
[The women weep all the louder.]

0:45
[He steps aside toward the trunk and sits down in his former pose. INGENUE, lying down on the grass, starts to cry.]

[His proposition is accepted in gloom; the INGENUE, however, stops crying;] -- maybe an abrupt crying stop here.

[After drinking, the INGENUE begins to sob again]

[(INGENUE sobbing more frequently.)]

I guess I didn't read close enough to catch the "musical Hamlet". I'll get that added!

And I will play around with the crying. Might be kinda fun!!

Todd, I think I'll take on the stage directions in A Dollar after all. Could you please switch me from Old Woman to Stage Directions? Thanks!
