I'm not sure why human beings ever thought to settle there.
It's still warmer then some places farther north . . .

Hi

Here is Chapter 37

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_37_trollope.mp3 28:22

This may be the last I upload before March; I have recorded the next Chapter, which is quite a bit longer, but we are going to Norway (cross-country ski-ing as normal) tomorrow week and I am not sure I shall have time to edit it.

We are hoping there will be enough snow - The Alps in Europe and lots of the US seem to have stolen all the snow from Norway! And then, every time they get some, it is followed by freezing rain, so likely to turn everything to ice!

Hope all is well with you, and your winter is not too fierce.

Regards

Enjoyed Chapter 37 as always. It needs one small edit when you get home. The first phrase is repeated.

Hope you're having a great (and safe) time skiing, and that the snow is better than you feared. We have the same type of snow today--snow on top of frozen rain, on top of snow, on top of more frozen rain. Very treacherous, especially for this community that isn't used to that kind of weather. But pretty!

Hi

I have (I hope!) corrected the section and uploaded it again

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_37_trollope.mp3

We had a lovely time in Norway, but the now conditions were very difficult - after the first four days no more snow fell and the temperatures were well above zero most days, so it was very icy. Our main concern was to stay upright and we did a lot of walking down hills - up or on the flat was fine but controlling descent was almost impossible! Still - no injuries this year.

Hope all is well with you

Hi Arlene

Here is Chapter 38 - a lesson in class prejudice!

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_38_trollope.mp3 44:43.5

I hope you enjoy.

The mild weather has continued here - we have snowdrops, primroses, daffodils , crocuses and the beginnings of blossom all out at the same time - and the warmest day in February ever in Wales!
Best wishes

Chapters 37 and 38 are PL OK. Pride and Prejudice would have been a good title for this book, too.

I think we're finally past winter, after the wintery-est (I'm sure that's not a word, no matter how I spell it) February in anyone's memory. We're all glad to see the backside of that month! I'm sure Minnesota would be glad to donate all the snow they are expecting this weekend to the Norwegian ski areas. I have to travel there in 4 weeks, and I hope they find someone to give it to before then!

Hi

Here is Chapter 39

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_39_trollope.mp3 26:43.

I had a quick look at Minnesota on Wikipedia - lowest teperature recorded in beginning February -52 degrees Celsius - -60 Fahrenheit - seriously cold! But the summer temperature was seriously hot as well - why would anyone live there! I hope you get some sort of mean between the two extremes!

Still - it looked beautiful.

Will you fly there?

Chapter 39 is PL OK. This chapter makes me think Trollope should have agreed he had two heroes -- both Dr. Thorne and Frank.

Yes, I'll fly to Minnesota. It's the only way I can both be in church on Sunday, and at work at 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Hi Arlene

Here is Chapter 40:

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_40_trollope.mp3 28:31.5

We are now enjoying(?) March winds.

A complicated few days ahead of us as we are needed to take granddaughter Felicity to school on Wednesday morning (which means travelling to Northampton Tuesday afternoon, after Helen has finished serving and clearing up in the church foyer cafe and I have been to my U3A German Group), and then travelling back after we have dropped her because Helen is coaching a young lad in Maths in the afternoon of Wednesday.

Hope all goes well for you

Travel safely in all your running around!

Chapter 40 is PL OK. I begin to see why Trollope made Dr. Thorne the hero of his novel. Anyone who could keep their mouth shut with that much provocation and temptation deserves to be the hero of a novel.

Hi

Here is the Next Chapter - more stoicism from the Doctor!

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/drthorne_41_trollope.mp3 29:05.

Enjoy.

I hope the weather is improving for your Minnesota trip. We seem to be having spring now.

There aren't many more chapters left, so the Doctor won't have to keep it up for much longer! Chapter 41 is PL OK.

Had a lovely and unexpected visit from my son, delaying my getting to this chapter.
