The Life and Age of Man by Anonymous

It reminds me of The Seven Ages of Man by Shakespeare. The header of this says, "From one of Thackeray’s Catalogues...", but I believe he is just the editor of the collection, not the author of the poem. I also think that this Thackeray is not the William Makepeace Thackeray most are familiar with who wrote Vanity Fair, but a different man working at least 40 years before WMT was born.

Thank you, Craig! PL OK and in the Magic Window!
Thank you, Larry! I especially appreciated "The Life-Saver"! Both PL OK and in the MW!silverquill wrote: ↑February 12th, 2019, 10:28 am The Life-Saver by Joseph C. Lincoln (1870 – 1944)

And in the article it also says that when they met in 1887, "He was apparently about 30 years of age", which gives us the birth date around 1857. If so, he wasn't more than 35 when he died!...KIBBONAFIDE wrote: ↑February 13th, 2019, 7:09 pm "A Litany of Atlanta" by W.E.B. Du Bois (1868–1963)

I originally found the poem in the beginning of this book:
https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=hvd.32044009883190;view=2up;seq=15;skin=mobile
When I went to look up the author, no Wikipedia page and no biographical information on the internet that I could find except for this article ( https://washingtondigitalnewspapers.org/?a=d&d=SEATPINT18960621.1.4&e=-------en-20--1--txt-txIN------- ) from The Seattle Post-Intelligencer (June 21, 1896), which ends a profile about him with this paragraph:
"Poor Heneage, his life was a mystery! His conduct was so exemplary in the penitentiary that he was soon made librarian of the institution, which position he held, up to the time of his death, four or five years ago".
That's the only thing I could find that speaks to a death date.
The only other thing I should mention is that the newspaper article also reprinted the poem and that one was a little easier to read from. The article is later but still old enough. Sorry to be difficult on this one!
Thank you for your contributions! PL OK and in the Magic Window!
In the MW! Thank you, Larry!silverquill wrote: ↑February 15th, 2019, 3:10 pm Ode on Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood by William Wordsworth (1770 –1850)

All technical checks pass with flying colors!
Is there a specific name you would like to be credited by in the catalogue?
This is your Reader Page, and we can also link to a personal webpage if you'd like: https://librivox.org/reader/13152
This page lists all projects you've been involved in, so it might look a bit empty now, but this can change
Yes, indeed; it does remind me, too, of the seven ages of man! Magic No 7!pschempf wrote: ↑February 16th, 2019, 12:07 pm

I agree with you and I've put the author as "Unknown".
