Short stories and poems for children, original and select by Unknown ( - 0).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/short-stories-and-poems-for-children-original-and-select-by-unknown/
A collection of short stories and poems for children. ( Campbell Schelp)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/ShortStoriesAndPoemsForChildren/page/n1
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Campbell,

I can MC this for you. Everything looks correct, so good job setting up your first solo! I have a couple of suggestions, totally up to you...

One is that I might group a few stories together in each section. Otherwise, some of your sections will be so short, the intro and outro may be longer than the story. :) Some readers will find this annoying; others may not mind if they are playing it for very young children.

My second suggestion (especially if you are grouping stories into sections) is to change "chapter number" to "section number" in your intro and outro.

Back soon with a Magic Window.

All set!

As a soloist, you are your own BC, so you are responsible for updating the MW.
Instructions are here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kVj409nG_E0XJ5UrrcL7EVx7Qyx-2UQ7dbw4mINi3XQ

If you decide to group the stories into longer sections, you can remove rows from the MW yourself. See section 4.H. of the instructions.

We'll hang out in the Launch Pad for a day or so to try and catch a DPL, then I'll move your project to Going Solo.

If you have any questions, post here in the thread or PM me.
Have fun!

Ok thank you! And thanks for the suggestion! I have a feeling I'll start out with one section per row, and as I'm recording I'll see how many I can get in to feel like a good length and change it then. I'll try to update the MW later today! :D

Managed to update the MW! Looks like I don't know how to count, though, I have 6 extra sections . In the instructions it says that only the MC can delete rows. Is this accurate? I hope to start recording in the next few days, and will get a sense then of how many stories I will try to fit in one section. Maybe then I can try and update the MW to the correct number of rows.

Sorry, I forgot you can't do that part. It's super-easy on my end, so if you group the stories and need to delete more, it's no big deal.

I managed to get caught up on other reading/PLing, so this project I'm hoping to get recorded pretty quickly. Got Chapter 1 uploaded!

I also grouped the stories into smaller sections to make around 10 minute long sections. One question, how do people usually name these sections? Leaving in all the names would be very long.

Just call them Section 1, Section 2, and so on.

Sorry, I meant in the MW. I know in the disclaimer to read 'Section 1' and so on, but in the MW should I name them something different?

I meant in the MW, too! :)
It's OK to just call them Section 1, Section 2, and so on in the MW as well.

Ok thanks! I have recorded the next two sections, and just left in parentheses what stories they are so the future DPL won't get confused. I'll delete the parentheses at the end :D.

Sounds good. So it's OK for me to delete all the extra rows now?
