Thank you, Natasha!
Your reading is word perfect, with many great intonations throughout!

In running your recording through the LV checker, there are a few notes.
Your volume is perfect at 89.5.
However, you have a DC bias of -4, which affects the sound quality a little.
Your noise level is at 48.8, which causes distortion of your lovely voice, and so will require cleaning of the recording.

I'm not sure what recording software you use, but the followig will help you with Audacity:
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Noise_Cleaning

Also, a marvelous tool by which to check your tech specs is here:
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker

(There are other very helpful articles throughout the wiki files. It has been instrumental to me as I learn to navigate the recording aspect.)

If you have questions, please feel free to post in the "Help" forum.
You are always welcome to to PM me; I'll help as much as I can.

Best Regards,
~Angelique

I have already answered your claim in my other project, but here again: you are welcome to read that section. To be able to sign you up, i need to know under which name or pseudonym you would like to appear in the catalog. We can also link to your personal website or blog.

Please also have a look at the feedback on your tedt recording :) thank you!

I don't know is this the right way of replying. I would want to appear as Adil Hussain in my recordings. Further, kindly let me know about deadline and all. Thanks for the help on my test recording, I think I'm all set up.

Okay, I read the Wikis, added some tools and plug-ins, and did some cleaning. :) My volume dropped to 88.4dB, but my DC Bias is now -1 (-0.0026%), and my Background Noise is at 24.2dB. (The Checker is awesome! ) Is that an acceptable Background Noise level? If not, I can keep working on it, just let me know. :) Thank you!

That's TERRIFIC, Natasha!
I can immediately tell the difference in the quality of the file.

Thank you for your contribution. I look forward to hearing more from you!

thank you both!

by the way, id advise you not to worry about dc bias until you can see it in audacity. a little bit of offset is not or hardly audible, and needs not be worried about :) thank you!

Hi,
My name is Julie Holmes and I just joined as a volunteer. I have listened to Librivox recordings on many long commutes and couldn't live without them!! Thank you Librivox!
Now that I am a volunteer I would like to record a chaper in this book, but don't know where to go to let someone know I want to record it. I have all the equipment and I am familiar with making voice recordings, however I am confused on how to navigate through this forum. If any of you pros out there could help this novice your assistance would be greatly appreciated!!
I look forward to hearing from yall, (sorry, I am from Texas, that is a word here) and can't wait to get started!!!!

Thank You
Julie Holmes

Hi and welcome to librivox!

Maybe the best way to get started is to look at the wiki. https://wiki.librivox.org/
It has explanations on recording and editing, but also on the rules we have here at librivox and on how to navigate the forum :)

The wiki also contains an article on the one minute test. Your first "job" is to record a thirty second fragment so that we can make sure that your technical settings are in order. Once you have the okay on your test, you can get started on recording :)

I recommend surfing around and just reading. The processes at librivox are not difficult and information is everywhere. Thank you!
