A collection of stories that inspired the works of many writers such as HP Lovecraft, The King in Yellow revolves around the play that the main characters read a part of, and those two acts of the play drive them all into madness. ( Eva Staes)
Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated). Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!
The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording! START of recording (Intro):
"Section [number] of The King in Yellow. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Say: "The King in Yellow, by Robert W. Chambers. [Section title]"
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
"Section [number] of The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Only if applicable, say: "[Chapter title]"
END of recording:
At the end of the section, say: "End of Section [number]"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
At the end of the book, say (in addition): "End of The King in Yellow, by Robert W. Chambers. "
There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
Example filename kinginyellow_##_chambers_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. kinginyellow_01_chambers_128kb.mp3)
Example ID3 V2 tags (just leave those blank! )
Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader: https://librivox.org/login/uploader
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: Kitty
When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.
Some people prefer to do something not already recorded, so I thought I'd mention it. However, the 2nd part is a group project, if that is encouragement for you to continue on with it.
I did see that it was already done a while back. I don't mind. I was thinking it would be nice to have all one project. Thanks for letting me know though!
I see this is your first solo! I have added you as book coordinator for this book so that you can update your own magic window. Nothing to worry about, it is very easy see the full guide here https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Soloists:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window
And please let me know if you could log on and if you have any questions.
Lets stick around in the launch pad a little and see if we can catch a dpl.
Hi lucas, as long as there is no dedicated proof listener in a project, other volunteers can just jump in. You neednt ask, just get started and post your feedback. Thank you!

So the file that go uploaded was the unedited version of the first chapter. I'll repost it when I re-edit it.
Sorry for the confusion,
Eva
The current one in there should be the edited version. Sorry for the mix-up!
:25 – You need to read the Intro below Part 1. I know it is in French – if you need help with pronunciation, I can write it out for you in English.
2:25 – You said Roads – Text says Streets
Do not need to change but quays are pronounced “keys”
There were several other switched words that did not make a difference to the meaning of the text – such as "that" for "when" etc. Just something to watch out for when you are recording and then doing your own PL work.
Lastly, your volume is a bit high - 92db - if you could get it down towards 89db that would be great!
