The all-mighty father of Librivox(hugh), and the King of the Wiki(Squiddhartha) have permitted me, the Wiki Knave to proclaim that the Librivox Wiki is now available for the masses to enjoy and give awe!

You must register separately from your Librivox forum account. If you can please follow the Wiki conventions (FirstnameLastname) for your usernames. If you're not familiar with a wiki, it's basically a collaborative site which allows all the users to edit and create pages. We hope that it'll be easier to find answers to a lot of the questions we tend to ask, without having to dig through the now massive forum.

So sign up and help out if you can. But if you feel uncomfortable, at least you can go there to see if you're questions have been answered. If they aren't addressed, post them in the Help section and maybe hint to us that it'd be a really great article to have on the wiki!

If you're working on the wiki, the built in help sections are pretty good, but if something doesn't make sense, ask me, and I will try as the wiki knave to sort it out. Eventually I guess we'll try to make some formatting templates so stuff looks consistent. But we haven't figured out a good look and feel yet, so if you come up with a fabulous design, we may just steal it! (Remember everything Librivox is public domain :) )

So where is this next wonder of the world located? Why conveniently at http://librivox.org/wiki

Please give a big hand to Squiddhartha for setting this up. <clap><clap><clap>

And with this, let us all hail our king for this great benevolence which he bestows upon us. (ok enough is enough, you can go back to your regular lives and conversations now) :D

Yeah Chris!!! I love the new Wiki. Already edited the volunteer page to add the info on volunteering for Wikipedia entries. This felt a little G.E.B. though. Hah!

Complete 1. A list of Librivox Volunteers and thier home pages.
2. How to Listen page (link to catalog, common mp3 players, how to burn CD's, etc.)
Complete 3. Finish the ID3 tag page (Gesine has a topic started on this that can be cut and pasted)
Complete 4. Info on BitTorrent (Stephan)
Started 5. Info on Music (why we can't have copyrighted music, link to my free music bumps)
Banners Complete 6. Librivox promo material with uploaded files of all the current audio and graphic promo peices (banners, 15 second spots, poster, etc.)
7. Info on catalog system, ideas and how/where to volunteer to be a coder.
Complete 8. Copyright info in general, cutoff date, links or copies to info in other threads about this.
Complete 9. Technical info like what is bit rate, sample rate, etc with links from how to record. (everything at this link http://librivox.org/about-recording/ )
Started 10. More tips on editing (maybe a whole seperate page/section)
Podcast Complete 11. How to sign up for the podcast and news blog (and what they are)
.....

Will edit or post as I think of more ![/b]

G.E.B. Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm unfamiliar with the acronym. Well actually there's a lot of stuff I'm ignorant about, so no need to excuse it :)

I posted the link to the wiki late last night (well late for EST) and all of a sudden there are all these new pages and edits. Let us bask in the warm glow of collaboration :)

Actually, it was a breeze for me to write... this is a topic that I'm already so familiar with that I just had to make the time to put it all in writing.

I've also added a couple of hints in the "What If I Suck" section =)

Adding your own Wiki Cascading Style Sheet...the looks of the wiki....
Do you want to try my look?

add this User-CSS-url in your user preferences:
http://www.moebius.mynetcologne.de/librivox/style2.css

This is how it looks:
