Thank you for the reading. This is the first year where the figures were not included in the address. Two years later they are all back so apparently it wasn’t accepted well.

49:09 - But few of the officials receive a compensation equal to the respectable support of a family, while their duties are such as to involve millions of interest. In private life services demand compensation equal to the services rendered; a wise economy would dictate the same rule in the Government service.

Section 6 - read through "In further connection with the Treasury Department I would recommend a revision and codification of the tariff laws and the opening of more mints for coining money, with authority to coin for such nations as may apply"

Section 7 - beginning at "WAR DEPARTMENT"

Which brings me to the question:

Do I read those CAPITAL section headings? I think I should, but I'm not convinced.

I have so many of those days!

I don't mind dull, really. Some things NEED to be available in audio versions, exciting or not, and it's still a privilege to take part in making that happen! And I'm thankful that every year in history is not a thrill a minute. I'm ready to live in less interesting times for a while, myself, though it looks like that is still a ways off...
