I have uploaded section 5. Since I'm new, I'll wait to hear about this before I record the second section I claimed.

Hi Shari,
You did a great job! A couple of little edits and you will be all set.

-Please trim opening silence to less than 1 second.

-Your overall volume is within range however, the first ~50 seconds is very low. Please amplify this section so the listener doesn’t need to adjust the volume during your recording.

-13:45 – please take a listen. The silence mid sentence caught my ear. No need to change it if you don’t want to.

Note for the future: We aim for a volume of 89dB. Your volume is at the low end of the allowable range at 86.8dB. I don't know what program you are using but you might see if there is a compressor you can use followed by a bit of amplification. In looking at your waves most of the recording is on the low side but you have a few high areas which make a straight amplification impossible. The compression will take down the high spots. Please let me stress, you don't have to do this. You are in the acceptable range. At some point in the future if you are ever looking to fine tune your processing this would be something you could look at.

Audacity! Perfect.

Here's a video you can bookmark for later. Your version of Audacity will likely be different but it should be close enough.

Thanks for the video link. That was helpful. Do you know if, on the first slider bar in the Audio Track section (under the "mute" and "solo" buttons) if I should move that slider to the right to increase my volume?

I have made the changes to my audio file and reuploaded the file. The time is now 18:59.6.

I believe that only changes the playback but you can post in the help area to be sure. viewforum.php?f=23 Remember to post your Audacity version.

10:30 slight stumble (please remove opening s) - Pretty soon the vessel sailed.

That was a cute story. Thank you for reading it.

Thanks for pointing that out. It must have been when I stopped and trim some because I tripped over my words. I just didn't clip out all of the part that I replaced.

I'm glad you liked the story. I thought it was a great one to use to teach kids about what embellishment means and the difference between a true story and one that has been embellished.

I have corrected the file and uploaded it.

Please remember to post the full link you receive or I can't access it. Since this was your second upload of the same file I was able to get to it that way.

Spot check PL OK.

Let me know if any other sections are of interest to you. If not, have fun and I look forward to working with you again soon. :D
