Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë (1816 - 1855).

( )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1260
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Farnood,

I can MC this one for you, but I have two things to point out.

1. There are already 3 versions of this book, but I only say this to let you know of this. We welcome different readings of all books, that way we can give our listeners a choice of voice. But, some readers don't want to read something that has already been read. If you are fine with this, then we can proceed.

2. If we are going to proceed, I need to know the number of sections that you will need before I make the MW.

Let me know!

Thanks, Ann.

I had checked before and had seen that there are some versions of the text available, a solo, a collaborative, and a dramatic version. Even so, I would love to try my chance as the second solo reader of this book.

And as for the section numbers, I am sorry I forgot to write them down. There will be 38 sections, plus one section as 0, for the preface.

Thanks a million. :9:

OK, your MW ready for you! I did change the file name, to that it is now janeeyrev4_##_bronte_128kb. This is just to make sure these files do not get mixed up with any files from the other projects. We will wait here a day or so to see if we can pick up a DPL.

Hi Ann

I'm trying to upload a section, but I constantly receive an error (undefined file etc). Do you know what might be the cause?

Thanks,
Farnood

Usually it is because the file type is not the right type. Or maybe the uploader is having some sort of problem. I would suggest checking to make sure the file is an mp3 file, and waiting a little bit to allow any problems to resolve themselves. I will also check in the admin area to make sure there isn't a problem.

Hi Farnood,

I was just looking in my folder, and I saw that you had tried uploaded chapter 1 a bunch of times. The one thing that I see wrong with it is the file name. Try uploading as janeeyrev4_01_bronte_128kb . There is a stray character in the file name, it looks like as alpha, right after the author's name. I think trying to put the e with an umlaut is messing things up for you. Let me know if this works!

Yes, you were right. Now I managed to upload the file:
Chapter 1

A thousand thanks, :)

Marvelous! That is good news!

ETA: Are you able to get into the MW? As the soloist, you are responsible to paste your own links into the MW, along with putting in the section titles. If you are not able to get in, or have not gotten into the MW for the first time, let me know.
