Characters of Shakespeare's Plays by William Hazlitt (1778 - 1830).
This famous Shakespearean exploration illuminates its plays through the frame of character, while also weighing theme, mood, structure and poetics. In it, 19th-century critic William Hazlitt unveils Shakespeare's genius in creating and infusing characters with a life-likeness that often challenges, if not overshadows, more material human nature -- in both inner and outer worlds. As he writes: "The characters breathe, move, and live, ... think and speak and act just as they might do, if left entirely to themselves." The first printing sold out in weeks, and the second sold briskly, until a harsh and antagonistic appraisal in The Quarterly Review quelled sales altogether -- and unraveled Hazlitt's critical cachet in the eyes of the general public. Not until the mid-twentieth century were Hazlitt and his works re-evaluated, when he was finally recognized as one of Shakespeare's foremost critics of all time. In literary criticism, the renowned Harold Bloom ranks Hazlitt second only to Dr. Johnson. ( Nemo)

Amy, Eva and I will be doing this together. We will need a total of 36 sections .... the Introduction and then 35 more.
Other than the first two sections which I will be reading by myself, please put both of us in for the remaining 34 sections as we will most likely both be recording parts of them as each contain quite a few lines from the plays themselves with different characters voices. I will fine tune the assignments in the MW as needed.

We don't have a lot of time for recording this time of the year and we are trying to complete the very long project of Letters of John Keats that we are working on ... Winter is when we seem to be able to spend much more time with LVox!
I did want to get a section up to keep this floating along though ....
Helen, section 20, Henry VIII, is up and ready for PL!
Sorry to say, you may not see another in here for a couple of months, but we will get to them all ...eventually!!

Thanks for the update. I understand. We have to take advantage of the growing season. It is fleeting! It will be cold and dark all the time again soon enough (or is that just in the County?)
