Other People's Lives by Rosa Nouchette Carey (1840 - 1909).

A series of stories by Rosa Nouchette Carey who was a popular English novelist, whose works reflected the wholesome values of her time. They often contained the grit and realism of the day. Carey often wrote about the domestic fiction of the period, which she was presumed to have had personal acquaintance with such as - families making do on small means, coming to terms with bereavement and new responsibilities, moving into a new neighbourhood or a different house and allegiances, frictions and jealousies among members of a large family. ( Lynda Marie Neilson)

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://ia800903.us.archive.org/26/items/otherpeopleslive00care/otherpeopleslive00care.pdf
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Hi Amy -

I am done with the splitting of the Sections. Can you please take a peek at the TOC in the book and see if you think I have set up the Titles of the Sections correctly? They are kind of different. I am not sure if I should list the Sections and Sub Sections listed on the TOC on each line or just leave them as I have them currently.

Such as I have currently:

II The Idylls of a Vicarage - I The Vicar of Sandilands
II An Old Maids Story
etc.

Should I instead have:

II The Idylls of a Vicarage - I The Vicar of Sandilands
II The Idylls of a Vicarage - II An Old Maids Story
etc.

I hope you understand!

Hi Lynda,
Wow! This is a complicated one. I looked at a few past projects with somewhat similar situations. Even though it isn't a massive book, it may work best to call each group a Book, then each story a chapter of the book.
Book/Chapter/Part .

For example, the opening script could be

" Section 3 of Other People's Lives. [Librivox disclaimer.] "Other People's Lives, by Rosa Nouchette Carey. Book II: The Idylls of a Vicarage - Chapter One: The Vicar of Sandilands Part 1-

" Section 4 of Other People's Lives. [Librivox disclaimer.] "Other People's Lives, by Rosa Nouchette Carey. Book II: The Idylls of a Vicarage - Chapter One: The Vicar of Sandilands Part 2-

If you want to do it that way, we can adjust the intro script.
Thanks!
Amy

Okay - I like that - let's do it that way!

So I am a little confused as to what I need to do to the MW. Do I take out the "book" name prefacing the chapter title then and move it down to the opening script?

Hi Lynda,
The section title would need to be put in as Book II: The Idylls of a Vicarage - Chapter One: The Vicar of Sandilands Part 1, Book II: The Idylls of a Vicarage - Chapter One: The Vicar of Sandilands Part 2, etc...
And then the opening script can be altered to : Section [Number] of Other People's Lives. [Librivox disclaimer.] "Other People's Lives, by Rosa Nouchette Carey. Section [Title].
The first and last ones can just have Parts instead of Chapters.
That should work.
Cheers!
Amy
