Hello,

I just recorded and edited Edith Wharton's ghost story, "Afterward". It's about 70 minutes. I plan to do a little polishing and I may be able to shave some more time off it, but I don't think I'll be able to shave more than a minute or two. Do I understand that's ok? (If not, maybe Librivox can use it elsewhere.)

Thanks :D

PS: maybe this is clipped in places? Checker passed it, but I just looked at it again and to my newbie eyes it looks like there's some clipping in the second half of the recording. This file is a copy; so I can backtrack if you need me to run through MP3 Gain with a finer brush (but I may need some advice).

Hello,

I just uploaded the edited and Checker-approved version of Afterward, by Edith Wharton here: https://librivox.org/uploads/bart/ghohor032_afterward_wharton_ah_128.mp3

It is 56 minutes 7 seconds. Please let me know if you need any changes. Thanks!

Yes, there is some clipping but it's not bad enough to create distortion. It's fine. You can check in Audacity, there is an option "Show clipping" in View menu.

The recording is PL OK. And an excellent ghost story!

Bart will need the text url link, if you used an online source.

If still possible, I'd like to claim the final story with H.G. Wells' "A Dream of Armageddon". I've noticed that it's nowhere to be found on the main site, which is surprising considering it's Wells.
I plan to read from a 1924 compilation linked here: https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.98002/page/n457

Will there be a collection 33 after this one? I was thinking of reading a story but I haven't got around to it yet and I'll be away on summer holidays for the next two weeks!
