EDIT: Is this source acceptable for recording on LV? It has a publication date of 1923: https://archive.org/details/LoveSlaves

We have the one book of his from PG, but there are some others:
Love Slaves and Ancient Prophets seem to have links but are only available as downloads:

EDIT: These are now recorded for LV:
Heart Talks on Holiness (1900) https://archive.org/details/hearttalksonholi00bren
The Way of Holiness (1902) https://archive.org/details/wayofholiness00bren
The Soul-Winner's Secret (1900) https://archive.org/details/soulwinnerssecre00bren
When the Holy Ghost is Come (1909) http://www.gutenberg.org/files/6135/6135-h/6135-h.htm
Helps to Holiness (1912) https://archive.org/download/HelpsToHoliness

I'm still looking for more PD versions of Brengle's books. Would this do? http://www.salvationfactory.org/the-brengle-collection/

They have made notes on some of the texts which have been altered. They do not appear to claim a new copyright. If we could potentially use this, I could get in touch with them about it.

And while I'm asking - are those Archive downloads OK to use?

I think the Archive ones are OK to use. The one that's "just a download" is in .epub format; I don't know how many people can use that. I know I can't. :)

The other website, I don't feel comfortable using. They're not scans of the original books, and we cannot tell how they've been modified from the original.

Here's a link which says it is made from a "non copyright copy" but then it says it has "all rights reserved" on it:

http://wesley.nnu.edu/wesleyctr/books/0301-0400/HDM0348.PDF

It's held by a library which has placed it in the PD, but it is an electronic copy of a CD. The library has it listed as PD, as the book was published in 1896, but I can't tell if "HDM" is still a going concern or even a legitimate copyright holder.

There is a huge kindle file on Archive, but I'm not sure how user-friendly that would be:

I can't find the other thread we used to discuss Helps to Holiness. I guess it must have been deleted, but I thought it had moved to Book Suggestions. Anyway, I wanted to update you on it. Although I ordered it on Nov. 22 (which was a holiday here in the US), I haven't received it yet and I'm a bit concerned. Supposedly it has already shipped, and it should have arrived by December 12. I was never given a tracking number or anything, so I don't know what's going on with it. I've contacted the seller, and I'll let you know if I get a response.

Doesn't matter, here is ok but it's viewtopic.php?f=30&t=72607&p=1526999#p1526999 , There's a couple of ways I use -
I click on the number of posts you've made - this works better if you were not a prolific poster :D
Or on the search at top RHS of this if you click on the cog wheel it gives you lots of search options - you could try Brengle, or thread title with Brengle or many other different ways
It's handy sometimes :D

Actually, it was in "really deleted threads" (off the public forum). I've moved it to Book Suggestions. :)

Yes, that doesn't usually narrow it down for me much!

I received a response from the seller this morning:
After some trouble finding this book in stock, we have "Helps to Holiness" ready to ship to you on Monday.
But of course, now I'm a bit concerned that it may not end up being the same volume that was listed, and could be a later edition, if they couldn't find it... So I'll be asking a follow up question to be sure.

(Maybe it's better not to ask why the book had been showing as shipped this whole time.)

Well, I guess Christmas is a busy time for everyone. Hopefully it's the correct version when it arrives!

Ok, it's finally here, and it's the real deal! Fourth edition, 1912!

Now, I think I saw someone somewhere say that if I could verify this copy against one of the online texts that we have and conclude that it does match, we can use one of those. Is that correct? I can't remember who may have said that, or what thread I saw it in.

Alternately, I can definitely scan this one if I need to. But the binding is a bit weak, so I don't want to do that unless I really need to, because I'm reluctant to potentially damage it further.
I think what usually happens is you scan or photograph the page with the date and send it to us for our records and then check the online source is the same

I think Anne accidentally edited your post instead of quoting it. ;)

(1) As Anne said, scan or photograph the title and copyright info page, put them in a zip file, and upload them in the uploader. For now, put it into zz-nonproject, I guess.

Are you planning on using it for a group project or a solo? If it's a solo, you don't need to find an online source. If it's a group, you do. :P

If it's a group, I'd say, photograph or scan some of the text itself - maybe a whole chapter, depending on how long they are - and stick that in the zip noted above. Then a second set of eyes can compare the online text and help you verify it. How does that sound?

Sounds good to me! This would be a group project, and if she's still willing, I think Beth will probably BC this one, as she has done the other Brengle books.

I may be able to get this done today.

(I have on occasion quoted my own post instead of editing it, so I understand the struggle. )

Let's see if this worked:

https://librivox.org/uploads/xx-nonproject/HelpsToHoliness.zip

It should contain the title page and chapter 1. I also got the last page of the preface and first page of chapter 2.
