Life of Edward the Black Prince by Louise Creighton (1850 - 1936).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/life-of-edward-the-black-prince-by-louise-creighton/

Edward the Black Prince (1330-1376) was the eldest son of King Edward III of England. He commanded the vanguard at the Battle of Crécy and, skillfully deploying his troops, defeated a much larger French force at the Battle of Poitiers. In this short biography, Louise Creighton sets Edward's life within the context of his times and portrays both the bright and the dark sides of this paragon of chivalry. (Pamela Nagami)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Erin,

Section 1 is up:

The Black Prince is born and young Edward III topples Isabella and Mortimer.

My best,

Hi Pam,

Section 1 is PL OK, and what a start!

I couldn't help reading the prospectus for the series. It's a nice idea generally, even if in practice trying to make every single writer conform to a single editorial vision really is like herding cats. I was also kind of intrigued with the selection; certainly outside of Leicester I don't think anybody now knows who Simon De Montfort was!

Hi Pam,

Section 3 is PL OK, and did a fine job of fitting Cressy into under thirty minutes. I didn't know it could be done so deftly and comprehensibly!

Hi Erin and MaryAnn,

I have replaced the link to the text with a new one because of several bad pages in the first.

My best,
