Hi LV members,
TY for taking the time to view my posting.

Why does my "Log In" fail when I try to use another computer?
I know the username & password are correct because they work on my PC.

My PC is due for maintenance/ tune-up (after the mad rush of the Holidays). I tried using a second pc in my family,
but I get the same message...Log In failed, you must register.
I need to continue my DPL work when my pc is being serviced.

TYIA for your help,
Helen

Are cookies enabled? I am not quite sure if LibriVox needs them, but it's one of the common errors.

There's no technical reason why the login should fail on other computers, if you're using the correct login/password. *shrug*

Only advice I can offer is to double check your login and password again. Do you have it on auto-fill? Perhaps you changed it at one point, but forgot you did so?

You obviously can login to the forums ;-)

You might be confused with the forum login and the login to the workflow/magic window.
The username is the name, the password (hopefully) not.

The auto-fill thing is if you let your browser remember your password and fill it in.

You may just do a password reset ("forgot your password?" link) and make sure you know what is your password. That would be my best suggestion. :hmm:

You get an error message that the password is wrong?

In that case I'd suggest to type in your password on your computer on a note and also on the PC of your husband and compare those two. Maybe he has a different keyboard-layout installed?

He has the exact same system, it was on sale.
(Hubby got tired of waiting for me to get off the putter.)

I will wait until my pc goes in for maintenance/tune up; cross that bridge when I get there.

TY for your time.

Hi Helen,

This is a long shot, but it's worth trying at least.

Try going into your browser (the one on your husbands computer) and clearing the browser history, cookies and cache. Then try logging in again and see if that fixed the problem.

If you don't know how to do that, let me know what browser you are using (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and I can walk you through it.

One thing I'd check is that the password the machine is seeing is the same as what you think you're typing - if there's a key that's sticking or bouncing it might be mistyping for you but since you only see a row of blobs you don't realise it. Most web browsers have third-party extensions that will allow you to reveal what's typed in password fields. If I were in your place, I'd install one of these* and double-check the password was what I thought I'd typed.

(*As always, be careful about the provenance of free third-party software, especially software that mucks about with your passwords)

Cheers,
Paul
