Is there anyone interested in picking them up :D

Sure, I can take 13, if you can wait a couple of weeks.
It is crunch time here on several fronts. Just let me know.

I uploaded my 1-minute test. Additionally, I have a question: for sections containing multiple chapters, should I record each chapter separately, or read them consecutively during a single recording?

We read all the chapters together if they are included in one section.

Thanks for the one-minute test enz.
You have a good reading voice Emanuel :D

I noted that the recording was very high compared to what the standard is with LibriVox. We like the volume to be 89.0db yours was 95.7db.

You can download a nice tool called Replay/Gain to check your volume after finishing your recording. https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Measuring_Volume_within_Audacity

There is a deal of background noise in your recording. You can "see it" on the waveform by the little squiggles (or fuzz) where there is quiet. Removing background noise is quite easy in Audacity..

1) Select an area where you can see the (fuzz) squiggles, but it should be flat (aka quiet)
2) Effect / Noise Removal [Get Noise Profile]
3) Clear the highlighted area on the waveform (so that you're now removing the noise from the rest of the recording)
4) Effect / Noise Reduction [ok]Noise_Cleaning[/quote] You may need to repeat the steps above if there are lots of squiggles (fuzz) left on the waveform. Remember also to check your volume levels afterwards.
The best is to have a quiet recording space and to find all sources of noise and eliminate them if possible. I know it is difficult - I can only record on weekends due to the surrounding traffic

Installing ReplayGain plugin "installation – only done once"]There is a nice little tool that directly tells you how much to amplify: Replay Gain plugin for Audacity

Mono/Stereo

Your technical settings ... You have recorded the piece as a stereo piece. This is easily fixed (and only needs to be done once). Go: Edit/ Preferences/Devices/Channels (bottom of the list)/Mono

Newbie Guide to Recording

Overall you did a good job reading and have only some technical things to work out. Please rerecord the test and upload to this page and I'll listen again.

Hello, I would be happy to read section 3.
Librivox is a good place for everything you wrote about in your introduction. Thanks for all you do for everyone and especially for your wife and son :D

I don't see a one-minute test. Could you submit one in the forum?
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test

I'll reserve section 3 for you.

Let me know what display name you would like and if you want yor online portfolio page linked as your website.

Thank you. I actually completed this recording without a microphone, only using the microphone integrated into my laptop.

Provided there's no immediate deadline, I can purchase a cheap headset/microphone sometime later this week, which will likely eliminate the background noise and help with clarity. I will also take the steps you mentioned to adjust for volume concerns.

I can wait until you get a headphone. Are you using Audacity?

That was well read Brian.

I noted the volume was a little high. 91.4 we like it at 89.0

You and use this program to check your recording.

Thanks for section 19 Franklin :D

Well read and only a few errors noted:

:25 intro – your read Chapter 12 of mixed modes – it should be chapter 22

9:08 Which being fleeting and transient combinations of simple ideas – you read some ideas

We need 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording

Excellent! Thanks. I will get down to it ASAP, and you should have it very soon.

"Brian C. Rideout" is my preferred name on any project.
