Thanks John.
I cannot add them to the mw now.
But Rapunzalina probably can.

Hi Bart,

Two more short horror stories, both by Ambrose Bierce and in "Can Such Things Be?"

The Middle Toe of the Right Foot [21:40]: https://librivox.org/uploads/bart/ghohor032_middletoe_bierce_jtvs_128kb.mp3

One Summer Night [4:39]:

Text for both: http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext03/canbe10h.htm

Best!
John

Would you accept a horror story that runs over 2 sections? A recently found Conan Doyle "mummy" story is about 13,000 words, which makes it over 60 mins final recorded time.

I'll put the link here if you want to check it: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=coo.31924080776879;view=1up;seq=535

We accept two part stories, but if the total time does not go over 72 minutes we want the story as one section.

Hi Bart,

So sorry for the lateness of my response! The source for my reading of Young Goodman Brown is Gutenberg Press online and the book is Mosses from an Old Manse, and Other Stories by Nathanial Hawthoworne. The link is http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/512?msg=welcome_stranger

Three new stories!
@annehaviland: what was the source of your story?
@BurgundyGrace: All men are ghosts is too long to be a short story. I will ask my fellow admins for the best way forwards. For now I accept it here.

Ready for PL

Thanks, Rapunzelina! Now that Young Goodman Brown is PL OK, is there anything else you need from me?

"Young Goodman Brown" is PL OK!

"The Black Reaper" is PL OK!

I have noted a few PL notes for "Panhandle and the Ghosts" (from "All Men are Ghosts"):
35:22 a phrase missing, here in bold: "These," I said, catching him up, "must assuredly be the ghosts of the great philosophies, or systems of thought, which in their earthly state accounted for the existence of everything else, but left the problem of their own existence untouched."
36:40 a phrase missing, here in bold: "Beware, then, how you proceed!" said he. "It is possible that you will be haunted
38:12 a phrase missing, here in bold: Just as the personalities created by genius are apt to repudiate their creators, so the great philosophies
39:53 a phrase missing, here in bold: become diseases when translated to the second, and some of the ghosts in consequence live the life of invalids. The ghost of Evolution, for example [...]

I suspect some over-editing here  You can work the edits from bottom to top so that you don't lose the time-stamps.
I would also suggest changing the filename to use "Panhandle and the Ghosts" as title, except if I'm mistaken that this is the title of this particular story.
Optionally, at around 00:28 I would change the order, I would first put Dante's verse, and then the "Part 1, PANHANDLE LAYS DOWN A PRINCIPLE", because that's the order in the text as well.

I have to say, the voices and accents were excellent!!!  :D

And one PL note for "Ooze":
around 03:16 (page 13), text missing from the recording "I cherish sanctified memory of her for just that much, [text missing] They kept an apartment in Wilmette"

Hello!

I'd like to contribute to this reading list forum!

Here is my 1-minute test.

https://librivox.org/uploads/bart/test_malthus.mp3

The story I was hoping to read was M.R. James' "Number 13".

Thanks!

Hi Malthus!

Your tech specs are correct and your sound is nice and quite clear! The volume is within range, more on the high side, so take care not to go any higher (especially if it's an exciting text and we can get carried away when reading).

Looking forward to your reading of the Number 13 story!
