With Sack and Stock in Alaska by George Broke (1861 - 1932).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/with-sack-and-stock-in-alaska-by-george-broke/
In 1888, George Broke with Harold Topham and William Williams, made the first exploration of the Alaskan Mt. St. Elias range, including the crossing of the great Malaspina Glacier and an attempt on the S.E. face of Mt. St. Elias itself. The journey is described in the interesting work With Sack and Stock in Alaska, vividly detailing the country visited and the characters met along the way. ( Fritz)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/55980
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

craigdav1 has agreed to MC/DPL this project. The preface is short, only a few sentences long, so I will combine it with the first chapter.

Broke was recognized as a readable writer. Hopefully the rest will be as enjoyable.

Hi Dave -

Sorry to be gone so long. I hit a bit of a rough patch, but I think I'm back on track for the present. Section 3 is ready for PL.

Thanks Dave. With any luck you'll have a touch of frost to do in the bugs and put a bit of fall color on the slopes, but as mild as weather is getting up here that may be wishful thinking.
