Best,

The Italian gentleman's remark reminded me of Jack Aubrey's: ‘Subordination is the natural order: there is subordination in Heaven – Thrones and Dominions take precedence over Powers and Principalities, Archangels and ordinary foremast angels; and so it is in the Navy'.

We know what Mrs Piozzi cannot. Her book of travels was published in 1789 and I wonder if before July 14th? And the 1,000 year old Republic of Venice has only just over a decade of existence left.

My daughter spent a half a year at Ferrara. I'm looking forward to it.
Venice was fascinating!

I hope you have a Happy New Year and thank you for your kind wishes!

Not enough of Ferrara la Civile. I remember how spacious it seemed way back when...have you read "The Garden of the Finzi Continis"?

Hi Barbara,

Section 7 is PL OK.

You are the perfect reader, I think, for this project.

I saw the movie.

As for Ferrara, the Po changed its course, I think, and left Ferrara frozen in time, a charming fossil.

My best,
