The Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain (1835 - 1910).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-mysterious-stranger-by-mark-twain-2/
Mark Twain wrote this fairytale style story about 3 boys who meet Satan's cousin and they experience many things during this time. The story is narrated by one of the boys many years later. Mark Twain ends the story expressing the idea that will blow you away. Ideas that can be traced back thousands of years in many religions. What is existence really ... to quote that well known song by Eliphalet Oram Lyte ... Row, row, row your boat Gently down the stream, Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream .... so dream on. ( Patrick79)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

If we do as per last time that suits me if you are happy with that.

I added a ~ before the title in the subject line. MT should garner some interest. If not, I'm interested.

Hi Dave

I hope you do find it interesting. I don't really know MT but find this story intriguing as I love world views that are not mainstream, everyone should develop a life philosophy.

Anyway a question- a chapter has recorded at 1 hour 57 seconds but gets failed because it is over 1 hour. I had this problem with Anne when I did the broken shaft. She said as long as it is under 70 mins that it would be fine as it would still fit on a cd. Is this still the case.

Thanks
Patrick

Nope. Start recording as soon as you wish. I'll move us to the Going Solo forum in a few days or after you post a recording.

Hi Foon

Glad you like the choice of book. I have already agreed with Dave that he would do the DPL.

Dave are you happy to continue as DPL?

All the best both

Just a minor quibble. At the very beginning of the intro you did not mention the chapter number.

Hi Dave

Just listened to it and it does say chapter 1 is that what you refer to?
