COMPLETE[PLAY]The Funeral: or Grief A-La-Mode by Richard Steele - thw
Hi Todd
Here's stage directions for Act 2. Please check you're happy with what I'm doing before I do any more.

actually I am the one checking
very well read, all of it, and Todd will be pleased that you really left a lot of free space to fiddle around with
I have a few small notes for correction here though:
> at 0:59: Cam. This is lucky enough [Aside]. - we have to be careful in these old plays, quite often the "aside" is only mentioned after the sentence that is spoken as aside, like here. Todd will place it before the reader starts to speak, so we need to say the role-name here as well: "Campley, aside"
> at 1:55: Tru. I'll warrant I'll be revenged of this unconscionable dog [Aside] - same here: "Trusty, aside"
> at 3:45: Cam. [Sings] Let not love, &c. – “Campley, sings”
> at 4:26: L. Ha. That is indeed very handsomely said. Why should I not obey reason as soon as I see it? [Aside.] - "Lady Harriot, aside"
I think the rest were all fine, as far as I can tell. Great start !
One small technical note: please use only small case letters in the filenames
Thanks and looking forward to the next part.
Sonia
Thank you both.
Todd

Here's the remaining SDs apart from Act 1 and the prefaces. I've tacked the Epilogue onto Act 5.

will PL soon, thanks ! Actually in the text there is the mention that the Epilogue would be spoken by Lord Hardy Let's ask Todd if that is what he wants.
Sonia
Hi Sonia,
I was not clear. I've not read the epilogue, merely announced it.
Best Regards, Chris.

hehe I only just noticed I have finished PLing your sections. You managed really well to assess where the asides should come at the beginning of the sentence or not. At one or two points it wasn't so clear, but no need to change anything, you left sufficient space between the name and the stage direction that Todd can easily cut out the name if needs be. Excellent thinking.
I have found a few missing lines though (unfortunately one in each act) :
Act 3:
> at about 0:50: please insert “TRIM leads her round.”
Act 4:
> at about 2:49: please insert “Enter KATE.”
Act 5:
> at about 3:09: please insert “Lady Harriot, aside”
the rest was perfect, thanks !
Sonia
Thanks Sonia.
The gaps were deliberate, as you surmised. I'll fix the missing bits this afternoon.
Best Regards, Chris.

I updated the MW to show that Hardy does the epilogue. Still need a reader for that role!
Thanks, Todd

Hi Todd,
Do you want the dedication (under the title) in Latin and English, or just English?
Same Q for the last page of the preface.
Thanks, Chris.

If comfortable with Latin, you may feel free to read them in both languages. Otherwise, I think the English alone will be fine for most of our listeners.
Thanks, Todd
