    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/16663
NOTE: Some errors have been discovered in this Gutenberg version. So, please read from the following scanned copy from Archive: https://archive.org/details/talesolomonowl00bailgoog
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

The last one was done in less than a month.
This one has a chapter on Hallowe'en, so it would be great to get this one completed by then. :D

All readers welcome!

:help: :help:

Larry, I've come across a problem with the text. I noticed that some of it wasn't making sense, and it's not. I found Google has scanned in the original text and there missing parts of sentences. It appears when the page went from one page to another, most of those sentences are missing. It definitely happened on Chapter 1 and I checked it again Chapter 2 and the same thing is happening, however Google doesn't have the entire text entered. I was able to find an audio book version with text on Youtube, and when I did Chapter 17, it was fine.
https://books.google.com/books?id=zw9bPHa6DGQC&pg=PA1&source=gbs_toc_r&cad=4#v=onepage&q&f=false

Here is where I figured it out on the first chapter:

This is what Gutenberg text has:
During the day, however, Solomon Owl he was quiet about it.

And this is what the scanned Google text has (which makes so much more sense):
During the day, however, Solomon owl seldom had anything to say - or if he had, he was quite about it.

And later on in this chapter:

This is what Gutenberg text has:
So, on the whole, Farmer Green did not wood-lot.

And this is what the scanned Google text has (which makes so much more sense):
So, on the whole, Farmer Green did not object to Solomon Owl's living in the wood-lot.

Here are my two chapters:

Chapter 1: Scarring Johnny Green

Chapter 17: Cousin Simon Screecher

Hi folks

Can I do 5-7 please.

I really like these books, very fun.

I noticed the issue with the text that someone else pointed out but it doesn't seem to affect my chapters.

Cheers, Alice

Larry,

There are two scans of this book available on archive.org.

https://archive.org/details/talesolomonowl00bailgoog

https://archive.org/details/taleofsolomonowl00bail

In view of the above comments, it might be better to change the text link to one of these.
