WOW, thank you very much, I'm so glad I got such a wonderful feedback!

Yes, in the first part of this chapter Maria hides in the woods so she can give birth and not be fired by the owners of the farm she works at, passes away and is awakened by wild pigs tearing her baby to pieces. It is gruesome indeed!

Shall we try to finish off this project then? I'd like to claim section 7, chapter 6 (part I). Would that be OK?

All the best!

M!

yes indeed. I understood it correctly then. Poor girl.

Oh I would be happy if you took that one :9: thank you so much. And be careful, only read part 1 of it (from p. 190 till 212 bottom) ! Evandro already read the second part because it was so long. Not that you do double work in vain.

I'll sign you up.

This makes our project fully claimed and I will move us over to Readers Found :) I also have to see which project to start next. Are you all still up for more Portuguese ? This project here was an abandoned solo, and I'm so happy that we were able to finish it. We have on our abandoned solo list still two projects which need a handful of chapters to finish. Would you all be willing to help finish these as well ? Then we have no more Portuguese projects on the abandoned list, which would be great :9:

great. Well actually, the soloist of one of the two abandoned ones made a reappearance and is probably finishing it herself. That leaves us only with the Book of Ruth (from the Bible). It's a very short project, one section was finished, and there are 3 remaining. So it would be a job for no more than three of you.

And then there are no more abandoned projects in Portuguese and I'm open for any offers, if you guys have a wishlist.

That would be me. Sorry.

But there are plenty of Brazilian/Portuguese Classics that have not found their way to Librivox yet! I can suggest a bucketload of them, if people want suggestions. That depends on what people like to read too. :D

that would be great, Leni, as you have much more knowledge about your literature than I have :9:

Announcement: I have not heard anything back from the original reader of this solo and since Section 2 has too many errors which change meaning (thanks, Leni, for checking), I decided to orphan the section. So if anyone is willing to record Section 2, that would be helpful.

For the meantime, I put us back to Readers Wanted for languages other than English.

Hi Sonia,
About this post:

so Mayah just replied, and she would be interested as well. :9: So you are three readers for the moment, which may not be much, but when the project is up, maybe we attract new readers.

I checked a bit some texts, and although I don't know how good the authors are, here are some proposals, because of shortness of text:

eço de queiros: cartas de inglaterra: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/25641
teofilo braga: contos: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/32646
castelo branco: nas trevas, sonnets: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/34952
camara: contos: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/31905
carvalho: contos paraenses: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/30341
carvalho: contos do norte: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/28691

I checked it out and would like to record CONTOS DO NORTE; CONTOS PARAENSES; CONTOS PHANTASTICOS.
If the others are interested please, let me know.
Let's give Peace a chance.

yes I also thought they look interesting. Good idea to get the ball rolling, Mayah. Let's make it a public poll in here, and we see who is in favour of what.

perfect reading, Mayah  and with a recording of nearly one hour, that is WOW. Very well done, and thank you so much for tackling one of the longest chapters in this book. Section 9 is PL ok.

I see you have uploaded the next chapter as well...will try to PL today.

Thanks

Hi Sonia,

Thank you so much for your kind words! Yes indeed, it was a long chapter but I'm kind of used to it as most 18th and 19th century writers write long sentences and paragraphs! Hopefully, I enjoy literature and novels! Though this book is new to me, the themes and issues are modern: ecology, immigrants, war, etc. I really appreciated this author.

:D :9:

yes and he didn't write too difficult (even for me, I understood many paragraphs quite well)

Well there is still one chapter left to be fully claimed, if any of you have some time still. :) And then we can move on to a new project :9:

Have a nice evening !
