Mysteries abound in this crime novel by Fergus Hume. Mr. Fanks, detective of Scotland Yard, is not all he seems, for when off-duty, he assumes his real identity of Octavius Rixton, well-to-do idler. When the scent of a murder reaches him, he is instantly Mr. Fanks and on the pursuit. A guilty looking innkeeper nicknamed Queen Beelzebub and a suspicious doctor named Renshaw further complicate his beginning investigation, and he finds the body is a man with a tattoo on his arm that has been partially obliterated by a knife. Where no one is as he seems the mystery can only deepen before its solution. ( Don W. Jenkins)
Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated). Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

OK , MW set up .
There wasn't a number of sections filled in so there were no sections automatically generated. I've started to fill them in then realised 2 things
I didn't know if you wanted to combine any chapters
And I actually find it easier to add the titles as I add sections
So I'll wait to hear from you, you can add the sections yourself as you add the sections
or I'll add the number of sections you want
Using the tried and true method of suspecting the least likely person, my money is on the valet. I think they should be asking everyone to roll up their left sleeves. I think they are going to find more tattoos than you can shake a needle at.
I will be out of commission, literally, for a few weeks, so don't worry. I have to have surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm. Believe me, I'd rather record this whole book in one day than that.
Section 1 needs the full disclosure. It's the abbreviated version.
Sections 2-5 are PL OKAY.
I have one tattoo. Yellow rose with red flowers and leaves. It's just two inches by three. Rode my Harley with a group from Casper, Wyoming over to Denver for a concert at Red Rocks. We camped out and stopped by a famous shop. So I got one. More than thirty years later and it's faded.
Too early to say who is my suspect. We have the major players all lined up though.
Come back to us when you can. Dawn and Petey

I'm baaack! It's been a difficult and "interesting" road, but we're settling in here in our new home and we're liking it a lot, despite temperatures daily of 108 or so. It's a dry heat.
I hate to say this, but it looks like we have some more doofuses for detectives. Have they never heard of twins? Maybe they haven't read any Fergus Hume stories. She's going to be a worthy opponent.
