It's a shame that we're not allowed to incorporate even classical music or sound effects that I created myself into the project.
Listening to good audiobooks with some sound effects reminded me of the radio drama plays that I used to listen to when I was a child.
Anyway, at least I hope that listeners will still enjoy the project with or without the sound effects.

Guys, I think I ran into a little trouble here.
On p. 242 of Second Card Wins, I am reading the inserted poem "Portent" and I am near the last stanza.
It reads:
Alas!--although I shot him--in my dreams.
I hear his warning cry, and watch the storm
(what is this word? I can't read it) where the lightning, through the shadow gleams...

If anyone can help with this minor problem, I will be very glad.

Hi!
I checked my print copy for any clue as to what the phrase is intended to be. It stands as "Till where the lightnii j ..."
I *think* that due to rough printing (or possibly some code the author is using ... *shrug*) some phrases are simply indistinguishable.
However ... I've noticed through internet texts and the physical book that many times, there's not a seperate word at all, but "stray" characters.

Plus, analyzing the rhythm of the passage, I think it's to be:
"lightening through the shadows" (without another word.)

I don't believe any listener would question that. *Smile*
I hope that makes sense and is helpful.

Also, I DO apologize for not having known we could not add sound effects; I hope it was not TOO much trouble to take them out, and am glad you hadn't completed much more work including them.

Please keep recording; I enjoy what you do very much!

I'm probably a bit critical of EFD but I find this story rather muddled to my brain. It's not as well written as Are the Dead Dead? and the Stray Reveler. I mean, why did the (SPOILER ALERT!!) other guy shot himself? Is someone blackmailing someone? Who is being deceptive?

Based on my experience of contributing to this book, here's a drink in modern times that I think E.F. Dawson would enjoy drinking

Anyway, goodnight from this side of the world. Hopefully the coming week, I shall start doing some more recording for LV (most likely my solo work).

Yes, indeed. I find Ms. Dawson to be ... wonderfully morbid and mysterious!

I'd like to do the Gracious Visitation but I'm hesitant to volunteer to read it because I will be very busy for the rest of this month so I won't be able to record and finish it till early October.
