Hello,

Lecture seventh: https://librivox.org/uploads/carolin/economyandcookery_07_corson_128kb.mp3

30:02

However, I just got my new schedule, and I realize that I will not be able to do lecture eighth before the 25th of october.
So I'm giving up my claim to it: if somebody wants to do it before that, they can. (Sorry about this)

If nobody takes it before october 20th, I'll take it up again.

Hi Betty,
PL OK!

My doctor has been trying to get me to become a vegetarian. If I had to do any of this in order to eat chicken I wouldn't be as reluctant to give up meat. I have a whole lot more respect for my great-grandmother and what she did to keep her family fed.

Hi Jillian,
Section 5 is well read but does require a few technical corrections.

Please noise clean.

Delete out the spike at the very end of the recording. This shouldn’t cause an issue. You have closer to 7 seconds of ending silence than the desired 5 seconds.

At export, ensure settings are for a constant bit rate at 128kbps.

When you upload your revision please correct the file name. It should have a two digit number and and _ before 128kb. economyandcookery_05_corson_128kb.mp3

Well done. Just one little problem due to the awkward lesson numbers.

Hi Jillian,
The noise cleaning didn't work but the rest of the settings are now correct. The noise isn't so bad that I wouldn't say it's PL OK. You might want to get in the habit of using ambient background for the ending silence instead of generating silence. The generated silence is 'dead' silence which, especially when using headphones, sounds odd for audio work.

In the future here is a video to walk you though the noise cleaning process in Audacity. I find it works really well and after you get the hang of it, it only takes a moment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzVxubRO4gI

Carolin,
Please note the file name still needs an underscore after the author and before 128kb.

Carolin,
I’m sorry I wasn’t clear. Yes, section 5 can be marked as PL OK. It’s a little ‘fuzzy’ but not too distracting.
