The Gay Lord Quex by Arthur Wing Pinero (1855 - 1934).

Lord Quex, after a life of philandering, has decided to reform and marry. But he is not believed, particularly by the guardian of his intended. The play shows the difficulties in shaking a discreditable past - and how it is different for a male Lord than for a woman. ( ToddHW)

Gender neutral, and with Sonia (Kitty) as our wonderful DPL

    1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/15744
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

You must know my voice pretty well by now. Would you please assign me a role you think would fit? (I know it's gender neutral, but I like doing roles that fit my voice.) :)

DPL and Duchess of Strood signing up. :) Todd, I also appear at the end of Act 4, so I'll create one more section for that role in the MW.

thanks again, Tomas and Devorah, and also Tricia and Beth, for your interest. Pinero is always a treat. Looking forward to hearing you all. :D

oh I can play cast director again :9: Well, it all depends what you like to play of course. So your voice would fit a more mature character, rather than the "shrilly silly types". Would you like to play Lady Owbridge ? She seems to be the no-nonsense aristocratic type, possibly a bit grumpy but with a good heart. She is presented rather unflatteringly though  "Lady Owbridge is a very old lady in a mouse-coloured wig, with a pale, anxious face, watery eyes, and no eyebrows". No need to shave off your eyebrows for this performance though. That's the perks of being in an audio-production.

Just have a look and let me know if you're ok with the role :)

As there are so few male roles may I claim Captain Bastling. Makes a pleasant change to see a play with a predominance of female roles.

Well, before someone else rushes to claim it, may I again read Mr. Stage Directions?

Arrived home from holidays this evening, and I'll get cracking on editing Trelawny of Wells this week.
That just leaves Psyche, I think.
And, I see you found another missed line for Sir Francis, so I'll get that right off.
