It's Your Fairy Tale, You Know by Elizabeth Rhodes Jackson (before 1902 - after 1947).

The book is about a typical boy named Wendell, who lives in Boston and likes fairy stories and baseball MUCH more than fractions. Any more than this would be a spoiler! ( Nan Dodge)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/57662
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

All done.
I couldn't see any more about the Author except that PG says her surname is Jackson , not Rhodes Jackson and she appears to have published a book in 1947 about Boston . I tidied up the first post a bit , be careful with your next template just to put the title in the title field , not solo and not the author as well . computers are very literally minded :D

We'll see if a DPL drops bye - it's a fun book, I'm looking forward to the finished product . You should be able to enter the titles and get reading.

Anne, (with an "e",)

I have blocked and copied your post and put it in the file marked "things to do and not do when recording for Librivox." ;)

I don't think I understand about adding the chapter titles -- do you mean once the chapters are finished and uploaded?

Nan

Have you BCed a project before either a group or a Solo - I thought you had ? If not , I'm sorry - I was wrong . You'll need these notes

Now that you are a soloist, you will be your own BC (book coordinator). That means that you will enter the links to your recordings into the Magic Window (MW) (the scrolling window in the first post). Here is a document that explains how to get into the MW the first time:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxWB83bbALTQYjlENGZ0SVJUWWs

And here is another document that explains how to keep the MW up to date etc:

I set up the first title field so you had something to go by

Hello,

I thought I'd lend a hand and get you caught up. I'm a bit new so am still learning.

Ch. 1 9:54 slight stumble that ends in a wrong word. ...let us hie here thither... should be ...let us hie us thither...

Ch. 2 6:46 There is a sudden increase in volume.

Ch. 3 6:50 Sudden increase in volume. 9:27 stumble during ...a small boy...

Ch. 4 7:53 stumble during ...that the majestic khaki...

Ch. 5 4:55 stumble during ...would better walk... 12:21 increase in volume

Ch. 6 overlong pause at the end of the file

Ch. 7 OK

Hope that helps.

Thank you, Terry! I will take care of those today. (Librivox is my reward for getting work done in the morning!)

If you'd like I could DPL for you. I did volunteer for one other short project, and two would be my limit for now until I can judge better how much time it all takes. Let me know.

Thank you! (I'm new too, as you can tell.) I would appreciate the assistance. I don't know how volume goes violently up and down -- I thought I had that particular problem licked. But as I said, I will go up later and make the corrections.

Welcome Terry - that's just how I started , many years ago . I think it was Shakespeares Sonnets . I'll add you as DPL and we'll all go from there.

Anne

I've added you as DPL . When you are ready for the next step try getting into the MW - no rush , I've changed the PL flags.

Thanks, Anne. I got into the Dashboard. Not sure what to do beyond that, though.

And I do have a question, though it might seem a bit OT. I've come across a thread or two about covers for projects. Will we be using the original book cover for this or will we make one? I ask because I'd like to try my hand at it.
Thanks.

The origal book covers are usually rectangular so at the very least they need to be made square somehow :D . If you are interested in making covers you need to read the sticky in the volunteers wanted other projects forum viewtopic.php?f=22&t=28785
