The Silver Princess in Oz by Ruth Plumly Thompson (1891 - 1976).

Volunteers outside the USA: Ruth Plumly Thompson died in 1976. Her work is still protected by copyright in places, like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1954) or Canada (author's death plus 50 years).
Young King Randy of Regalia is visited by his old friend, Kabumpo, the Elegant Elephant of Pumperdink. Together, they set out to visit their friend Jinnicky the Red Jinn in the Land of Ev. On the way, they meet Planetty, the silver Princess from Anuther Planet, and her fire-breathing thunder colt. When they reach Jinnicky's palace, they find that Jinnicky has been deposed and enchanted by an untrustworthy slave! Can Randy and Kabumpo defeat Gludwig and restore peace and justice to Ev?

The Silver Princess in Oz (1938) is the thirty-second of the Oz books created by L. Frank Baum and his successors, and the eighteenth written by Ruth Plumly Thompson. (Summary by Beth Thomas and Wikipedia)

    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/56085
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Beth,
I will MC this for you. I'll move you to Readers Wanted tonight.
Cheers!

Hi Nan! Glad to see you made the leap across from my other Oz book!

I've claimed Chapter 1 myself already, but you can have 2, 3 and 4 for the same number of words, if that suits?

Thanks Nan, these are now in the MW for PLing - I'll do them myself when I get a chance since we don't have a DPL for this project.

Can I do chapter 18? This is my first recording, I’m new to this, is there anything I should know before I start?

Yes! You need to do your 1 minute test, as described in the welcome email or linked in the Wiki at the top of the page. Once your technical setup and volume is OK, then come back here and record!

Many thanks! Chapter 11 is PL OK - and hilarious! I loved the laughs you have them as they walked through the Field of Feathers!

Thanks Nan! Lovely readings all three! I feel like I'm being read to at bedtime all over again!

There are just a few mistakes which I think you meant to cut out in editing, as the phrase is usually repeated correctly just afterwards. I'll give you the time stamps for each chapter, they should be easy to find:

Chapter 2:
Repeat 2:30-2:50

Ch 3:
7:30 mistake and repeat

Ch 4:
1:43, 4:23 mistake and repeat
