Which MP3 Player is the Best?

I am looking into purchasing a new MP3 player. I want one that is inexpensive, has easy-to-use controls, and has expandable memory--that is, it should have a slot for putting in an SD card or micro SD card.

Any suggestions?

I like the Cowon players, but I'm not sure if they have an SD slot.

I have a sandisk mp3 player which has an SD slot and cost me less than $100 when I bought it a couple of years ago. I've been very happy with it.

I'm pretty pleased with my Sandisk Sansa. It has expandable memory, using microSD. It can only take up to 2G cards, though, bringing the total available memory to 10G. (Plus extra cards if you want to change them in and out.)

It also has limited memory formats: MP3 and WMA are pretty much the only audio formats it supports. I would say that is its biggest drawback.

Other than that, the controls are good, display is good, and the battery is user-replaceable (costs about $20) and holds a good long charge (I actually haven't played it out to the end of it's battery life yet).

Ditto with the Sandisk Sansa. I have the lowest model (c240) which has 1 Gb It remembers the last listened position both by file and within file. I don't use the internal memory much but pretty well use chips for everything. Using chips (micro SD)means you can take several books on holiday and swap about.
A v. good little device. (Cost about £35)

Thank you for your help.

I am looking at several of the Sandisk players. I am also considering the following which are supposed to do a lot more, but I have not heard of the brands.

Universal 2.0MP Digital Camera/ MP3/ MP4 Device
Lyra Personal Multimedia Recorder w/ 3.5-inch LCD
Latte Neon 2GB MP3 Music and Video Player

If anyone knows something about those, please let me know.

Thank you,

David

Just tried it. No, doesn't recognise it. Possibly the S series?
