Hi Lynnet -
I fixed the two stumbles and ran the whole thing through noise cleaning again. I did clean it last night, but maybe it got more background noise this time? I watched the YouTube video and he suggested different settings than I've been using (I've been doing the 6, 6.0, 6 as suggested in the one-minute test.) If I need to play with more noise reduction I will.
Here's the link to the re-uploaded Section 8: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/womentravellers_08_adams_128kb.mp3
Hope that works better, but I'll tinker with it more if it needs tinkering.
Thanks!

There is no one way to do many things, so different people will give different advice. I learned almost all I know about recording from Phil so his videos are a go-to for me but that doesn't mean that's the only way. If you like his style, he has plenty more videos: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Instructional_Videos

Hi Lynnet -
Here is Section 16: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/womentravellers_16_adams_128kb.mp3
I noise-reduced and amplified and noise-reduced again, so I hope we're good to go. If so, I'll take Section 17 next!

And here is Section 17: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/womentravellers_17_adams_128kb.mp3
This one is 29:47 - ha! I remembered!
I'll take Section 23 next, if I may!
Also, it was a little surreal reading about Lady Brassey seeing the erupting Kilauea 150 years ago, when I keep getting mesmerized by news coverage of it today. This book is making me want to read the actual books these ladies wrote, rather than just Adams's commentary on them.

Do you think it could be either/ both of these? You could always do it as a solo.

I'm definitely interested! I don't know all of the conventions for Librivox yet though - the readings I've done for you are the only ones I've done. When you do a solo do you still have a handler (book coordinator?) I would definitely need someone to ask about captions and footnotes and what is read and what gets left out. I'm going to hunt around and see if I can answer some of my own questions - I'll be back!

I will reply to your PM soon, but I definitely want to do the book!
I'm about to record Section 23, but looking at the Magic Window - is it supposed to be Section 22?

Hmmm... that's interesting. I hadn't noticed The numbering is automated (unless I fiddle with it). Section 25 has already been recorded as section 25, but I have moved 23 and 24 up to be 22 and 23. We'll just leave the final section as is. Thank you for pointing it out.doviecross wrote: ↑July 6th, 2018, 11:24 am I will reply to your PM soon, but I definitely want to do the book!

No hurry on replying to the PM... it's quite a commitment, so you want to be sure; but once you do commit, you can take your time.

Here's Section 22: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/womentravellers_22_adams_128kb.mp3
It's 10:27, scrubbed, volumed, and scrubbed again. I'll go ahead and do the new Section 23, if that's still up for grabs, and then I'll take a serious look at the Brassey books.
