The Widow Barnaby by Frances Milton Trollope (1779 - 1863).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found in the catalog.

https://librivox.org/the-widow-barnaby-by-frances-milton-trollope/
The vain, flirtatious and presumptuous husband hunting Mrs. Barnaby delves into high-class society of which she knows very little leading to some rather awkward and moments and ridiculous mistakes. Add the love and distresses of her lovely and demure niece Agnes, Mrs. Trollope's sharp wit, and you have the perfect recipe for a lighthearted Victorian romance. ( Celine Major)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/widowbarnaby01trolgoog
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi,
sorry for interfearing, but are you sure you got the whole thing? It is a three volumes novel... You have only one etext and 25 sections...
Stav.
Love gothic novels? Try Children Of The Abbey. Like surprising mysteries? Try The Amathist Cross. Looking for an easy read? Try Harriet's Choice.

Hi Celine. I'll MC for you. Who is your DPL?

I can't recall if you prefer reading from the scans, but the texts are available on PG.

Thanks for the note Stav.

I'll double check but I think I do. I checked the last paragraph of the one I have against the last one of Voume 3 and they are identical. My etext is single spaced as opposed to the double space in volumes 1-2-3.

My DPL is HZFerr and thanks for MC'ing!!!!! :D

Hi Helen!!!!

Here we go. As I mentioned I'm going to try and group chapters to run around 30 minutes as much as I can so we should end up with 25-30 sections total.

This looks like a really good one!!! Enjoy!!!

Hope you had a good weekend...probably as hot as ours...we actually hit 116 humidex (a record for us in Ottawa).

Just uploaded 4 more. If I had more time to spare I would glue myself to my mic...am hating Mrs. Barnaby, loving Agnes and can't wait to read more. :-)
