Hello, Michele.
I'd like to propose the following play for this collection:
Title: Efficiency
PD Text Link: https://archive.org/stream/efficiency00davirich#page/n5/mode/2up
Link to Author(s): Perley Poore Sheehan (1875-1943) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perley_Poore_Sheehan
Robert H. [Hobart] Davis (1869-1942) no Wikipedia page
Link to Title on Wikipedia: n/a
# of Roles including narrator--4 (see note below)
Original Publication Date--1917
List of Characters--
Narrator
The Emperor (modeled on Kaiser Wilhelm II)
The Scientist
Number 241
Note: In the published script, there is a letter from former President Theodore Roosevelt approving of the production of the play. It was not, to my knowledge ever made a part of the production, however, I wonder if a way can be found to include it at the front of the play. I realize this project is a dramatic one, not a historical one, nonetheless, it is a unique endorsement of this work. If it is included, I intend to read it myself which would make the number of roles--5. This role could be styled Historical narrator. I will, of course, abide by whatever decision is reached regarding the inclusion of TR's letter.
Many thanks,
Philip

hmm, I don't know if "introductions" are usually done for the one-act-collection, so in this case I'll wait for Michele's decision. For the moment I put your play in the MW, pending the inclusion of the letter.Note: In the published script, there is a letter from former President Theodore Roosevelt approving of the production of the play. whoops, sorry Philip, I somehow glided to the wrong post on this page when I checked who posted it. I will correct the error !
Thanks for pointing it out !

Devorah:
I'd like to claim the part of the narrator in "Food." (Vaguely reminiscent of Soylent Green... )
I do need some guidance (this is my first narration gig):
Assuming that the cast is going to do its usual voice credits...does the narration start with "Scene--Basil's home in NYC"
When we did Box and Cox, you had the characters read their own costume description...are you doing that this time? Do you want the costume description read?
Is the props list p. 4 part of the narration?
Prior to each characters first line, would you like me to read her/his name?
Any other special instructions?
Many thanks,
Philip
