Hi John,
Yes, they are his. We talked about it in a message. Sorry, I should have made a post for it. This one is full now.
Have a great Friday!

Hello Amy -

Here is the first batch of sections. I love this book, the guy has a great sense of humor. I sure hope some of his other books get put up on Project Gutenberg, I'm really hoping to do Plums and Plum Culture! Oh, and sorry I forgot to post here about claiming the other chapters.

Section 0: 02 minutes 20 seconds
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_00_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 1: 06 minutes 36 seconds
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_01_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 2: 19 minutes 19 seconds
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_02_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 3: 14 minutes 51 seconds
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_03_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 4: 08 minutes 44 seconds
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_04_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 5: 10 minutes 17 seconds
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_05_waugh_128kb.mp3

I haven't changed my recording setup or editing/mastering chain since I submitted the short sci-fi stories, so hopefully the audio is all up to spec, still, I am happy to make any changes you would like to hear. (I just noticed that you wanted ~5 seconds of room tone at the end of sections - I put 3 for some unknown reason. Let me know if you want that adjusted.

Hey Amy -

I will definitely do another of his books with you - I'd be interested in doing any of the titles I have seen by him. I remember a few years back asking about some titles I had found on the Internet Archive and was told by someone on the forums that not everything there is necessarily public domain. Has the Internet Archive cleaned up its listings, or are there certain contribution groups that are considered acceptable here? How can I verify the book's status to satisfy LibriVox?

Also, I apologize for the way I listed the sections and file length times on my submission, it has caused some confusion as to the length of the sections in the magi window. I'm sure you would notice the error when you PL, but wanted to give you a heads up (and I will make sure to be less confusing with the section listings in the future).

Best - Ian

Hi Ian,
I see the error of my time entries now. That's what I get for rushing. Thanks for pointing it out.
In the archive, the copyright status is on the main page for the book. The publication date needs to 1923 or earlier. Then whoever scanned it can cause it to be in copyright, but usually they are fine. It will say on another line Copyright status: unaware or not in copyright. Sometimes it may say Copyright-region: US.
Here's an example: https://archive.org/details/organicevolutio01lullgoog

This plum one looks good: https://archive.org/details/plumsplumculture01waug
Iwill get to PLing soon.
Have a good day!
Amy

Hi Ian,
I prooflistened Sections 0,1, and 2. Very well read! Please increase the silence to 5 seconds.
The author does have a great sense of humor. Dwarf fruit trees can even be good for people on deathrow- ha ha.
Have a good night!
Amy :)

Hello Amy -

Silence at the end of all sections increased to 5 second:

Section 0
2:22
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_00_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 1
6:38
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_01_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 2
19:21
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_02_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 3
14:53
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_03_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 4
8:46
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_04_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 5
10:19
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_05_waugh_128kb.mp3

The death row line really stood out! I also liked in his descritpion of strikign the proper balance between growth and pruning: "It is a delicate business, like courting two girls at once, but it can be carried out successfully." I've only flipped through a few other books quickly, but his style seems to be consistent, I'd be happy to do any of them. I mentioned doing the plum book only because the title stuck me as cool, but I don't have a preference for which book of his we do next, so if you had one, let me know.

Hi Ian,
Your sections are all PL OK. That espaliered pear tree in figure 18 is incredible.
Great readings! I am learning a lot.
Thanks!

Hello Amy -

Here are the remaining sections. Thanks for your patience. I'm still trying to find a solution to be able to more easily record where the blare of the A/C doesn't make recording so irritating and slow.

Section 6
14:40
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_06_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 7
18:48
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_07_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 11
6:45
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_11_waugh_128kb.mp3

Section 13
19:46
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dwarf_13_waugh_128kb.mp3

Let me know if anything needs changing.

Now we just need to decide which of Waugh's books to do next!
