Actually, I'd say that a large dramatic reading is the perfect place for a newbie. There are dozens of small roles for characters that appear in one or two chapters and then never again.

The unclaimed roles are in the magic window starting at about 150 and going to about 250.

I just found this and I'm so hyped. This is one of my favourite books ever!

I'm still pretty new to Librivox (I've done 3 poems and 1 ~10 minute recording so far..) but I'd LOVE to be a part of this. I'm female and really don't think I could pull off a boyish sound.

I'm a bit confused by the MW here and which roles still need readers.

Also, considering that this is a dramatic reading and a huge project, I can imagine you might not want a newbie to join just yet?
Welcome! Actually, I don't care how much experience you have, everyone is welcome:)

To explain the mw: Everything that is greyed out is claimed, but not completed. Everything yellow is completed. The blue sections are what's available. If you have some issues with the colors, you can also look at the third column; if it has a name, it's claimed.

For the smaller roles, whoch is mostly what is left, it isn't that important that you sound like a man. Particularly those without names. I would suggest Servant 1, maybe, or one of the mixed ones.

Since the parts were very short (and I got excited :p) I went ahead and recorded them before confirmation, hope that's ok!

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/montecristo_servant1_35.flac
https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/montecristo_servant1_36.flac

If they're OK, I'd love to do more parts. Just to make sure I understand it correctly: people are welcome to take more roles, just as long as they don't appear in the same chapters? So if I'd want to take more smaller roles, I'd be fine as long as they don't appear in chapter 35/36/37?

Cheers,
Foon

I have a question about this role--is Mademoiselle Morrel supposed to be in there? The only Mlle Morrel I see in these chapters is Julie Morrel, but she's been read already? Is there something else I'm supposed to read?

Yes, there is one place in chapter 30, though she goes my Madam

"Julie," said Madame Morrel, making a sign to the young man, "go and tell your father that Maximilian has just arrived."

The eis also the line she says with Julie:

"Then," said the two women to Emmanuel, "we are indeed ruined."
