Planet of the Damned by Harry Harrison (1925 - 2012).

This project can now be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/planet-of-the-damned-by-harry-harrison-2/
Dis was a harsh, inhospitable, dangerous place and the Magter made it worse. They might have been human once—but they were something else now.
The Magter had only one desire—Kill! Kill everything, themselves, their planet, the universe if they could—Brion Brandd was sent in at the eleventh hour. His mission was to save Dis, but
it looked as though he was going to preside over its annihilation. Space derring Do. Rip roaring action. Evil Aliens. A bewildered hero. Lots of fun. ( phil chenevert)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/21873
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi Phil! I've started listening, but I don't have MW access for this project!

Chapters 1 and 2 are PL OK.

Also, do you want me to put in the lengths of the files as I go? Or do you not need them?

Yes, I have access now, thanks.

Did you leave the Chapter numbers off on purpose? From Chapter 8 onwards there are no chapter numbers in the first column of the MW...

In Ch 10 at 14:42 I think there is a text error "frozen mobility" doesn't make sense - I think it was supposed to be "frozen immobility", which fits the context. However, taking a strict text-to-speech view you have said what the text has.

Just thought I'd mention it so you are aware.

Thanks. That must be a typo. I will fix it so it makes more sense, eh?

In Ch 12 at 4:54 there is a tiny repeat which I think you would have planned to edit out.

Ch 10 is now PL OK!
