Hi Kelly! Welcome to this project! This is a monthly collection of poems, and you don't need to claim sections beforehand. If you'd like to contribute the recording of a poem (or up to 3 per month) just go ahead and upload, and post the link here, along with the information (title and author of the poem, text source url, recording duration) :)

I would like to seek advice about a text source. I will record another author this month, so there is no rush on this. Please think it over or discuss it with other admins if you need to - and I'm sorry if it's a tricky question!

I'm interested in recording poems by Henry Louis Vivian Derozio (1809-1831), as I think he would be a fascinating addition to Librivox's catalogue. I may be overlooking something, but I have not found legible, clearly PD scans of his work. I have found a selection of his poems published in 1923, but the year of the editor's death makes that book problematic for Legamus.

I have, however, found a PD scan from the British Library:
http://access.bl.uk/item/viewer/ark:/81055/vdc_000000028B0C#?c=0&m=0&s=0&cv=0&xywh=-1919%2C-135%2C5207%2C2686
It's of Poems, one volume of his verse, and it was published in Calcutta in 1827. If you scroll down the bar on the right side of the screen, it should show the PD logo under 'usage terms'. I know this is not a traditional source for e-texts, which is why I'm raising this before I record. Would this be an acceptable text source?
Erin
Hi Erin! Thank you for your patience!
The text source is perfect! An actual scanned file where the publication date is shown clearly; it's all we need! :D

I have 2 poems to post & I do hope that I have posted them with all of the information and of course that they are pleasing to listen to.

Hail, Coffee! by Jacques Delille (1738–1813)

The Literary Lady By Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751–1816)

Everything is perfectly submitted, information and all! You are becoming a natural! :D
You even made our Author Database richer with a new addition; Jacques Delille.
I'm sorry the instructions in the first post were confusing at first, but I'm glad you figured it out anyway
It was definitely a pleasure to listen to, they are very amusing poems and very appropriately read! I'm looking forward to your third choice for the month!

Title/Author: "On the letter I" by George Gordon, Lord Byron (1788-1824)

Title/Author: "Dedication" (from Faust, a tragedy) by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), translated by Charles Timothy Brooks (1813-1883)
it seems the translator is not yet in the database: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Timothy_Brooks

Hello and Welcome to this project!!

Your tech specs are spot on and everything is perfect!
I have created an entry for you in our Readers Database. Here is your Reader Page: https://librivox.org/reader/12509
I've entered you as Richard Scott, I hope that's OK, or you can let me know if you'd like it to be something else, or if you'd like to add a personal url.
Your Reader Page lists all project you've been involved in, so it might look empty now, but it will hopefully fill up soon!!
You can also keep track on your claimed sections' status under the "Reader section details" link (like, assigned/pl notes/pl ok).

adr6090 wrote: May 15th, 2018, 2:20 pm Hello I just recorded, haven't posted that one quite yet, my 3rd poem for this thread and it dawned on me that "the road not taken" is a title so I do not include it in naming my audio. I have renamed 2 prior files to include the road not taken as I did not realize it is not intended to be in the file name. Please let me know if I need to send the original ones without that in the title.
Hi! Yes, indeed, I just noticed what happened with the filenames! "roadnottaken" was as an example, and the filenames from the first time you uploaded are fine. I can still get those files. So no need to do anything else now. I'll listen soon and let you know if any other adjustment is needed.

Hi Rapunzelina,
Thank you for the tips, the reader page, and everything!! I'm really excited about becoming a part of this group! I hope to eventually provide high quality recordings for Librivox. A work in progress!
I'm afraid I'll have to change how I'm listed before I go much further here. I just found out there is a "widely" published poet known as Richard Scott. He is definitely not me. And so, as not to cause any confusion, I'll be thinking of something else to go by. And unfortunately, a quick google of my full given name (Richard Scott Wilkins) reveals some colorful characters (one currently in prison) and another Richard Wilkins who's quite a big deal in Australia. I'll come up with something unique... perhaps Bill Smith or John Doe.... Dweezil is apparently, already taken. :)
But for now, can I change my listing to Richard Scott Wilkins? I might have to change my user name too. ugh.....

Don't worry so much about it. Think of the Catalogue name as what you use in the "recording by/read by [your name]" statement of the intro. It can help listeners who liked one of your recordings, easily search you by that name and find more recordings by you.
I have now changed it to "Richard Scott Wilkins" as you requested! Check it out! :D https://librivox.org/reader/12509
