Couldn't find all pronunciations of proper names; had to take educated guesses!

That's the best we can do sometimes. Better than an uneducated guess

Not sure you saw this one, Larry. Apologies if you are already on it.

I see that you haven't completed your one-minute preliminary test recording yet. We do ask that all new readers do this to check your recording specifications and format. Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Newbie_Guide_to_Recording Under point 2 you will find instructions for submitting that test recording.

Once you have the official "OK" on your test, post again here and let me know what name you would like to be listed as in the LibriVox catalog. Many of us use our real names, but you may choose any pseudonym or nickname that you wish.

By the way, I was in Siliguri, West Bengal, last year for a brief visit, and now have some good friends there.

As Tovarisch said, finding public domain sources in Bengali will be a challenge, but we would love to have you contribute. You may need to recruit another person who can proof listen your recordings

Let me know how I can help.

Section 19 is PL OK!
Section 22 is PL OK!
Section 24 is PL OK!

Great readings! Thank you. And I think you did fine on the pronunciations. Of course the rule of thumb for words you are unsure of is to say them with authority.

Thanks for the PL, Tom.

I've had PMs from the remaining readers, and they are still with us, experiencing some delays, so we'll keep things ready for them. That silverquill guy, though, needs a boost or something.

Section 19 has already been recorded, as noted in the Magic Window.
The only open section is number 8, although there is a prior claim to that one pending completion approval of the initial one-minute recording.

Well...we seem to have a slight problem. Como290 claimed sections 3 and 6 but turned in 3 and 5. TomDaley had already recorded 5, which has now been overwritten.

Amy, I assume you can recover the TomDaley recording of section 5 from the server??

Como290: section 3 is nicely read. I have only one item for your attention:
Librivox would like the beginning silence to be between 0.5 and 1.0 seconds long. The beginning silence on this recording is just under 0.1 seconds. If you could add a half second or so of silence at the beginning that would be great!

I heard several occurrences of what sounded like a bumping of the microphone. No need to correct them in this recording; just something to watch out for in the future.

And, of course, section 6 is still yours to record. Thank you!

Yes, I can retrieve Tom's Section 5.

Update: It should be all set now.

Larry:

I was going to ask to claim Section 8 but I see you are holding it for a new reader. I'll move on.

Many thanks,

Philip
